So I'm in a quarter system school and took the 3rd quarter of Calculus (Got AP credit for the first 2 quarters) and took Stats from the Psych department. I'm guessing I need another quarter of math to fulfill a year?

Will Biostatistics from the Bio department count as math and will the Statistics from the Psychology department I took be allowed (literally is just Intro to stats)?

Not entirely sure, but I would assume so. Since your school accepted AP credit for the first 2 quarters (and if it appears on your transcript), med schools will accept them as well.

I'm not sure about the biostatistics course. The (BIOL) prefix will have it count as a biology class, but under the (MATH) section it includes biostatistics...

A statistics class with a (PSYC) prefix will be labeled as a (BESS) class and not be used to calculate your BCPM. If you're asking if these classes can be used to meet school-specific pre-req requirements, then I would suggest calling the school directly and asking- especially in your case when the course title is at odds with the course prefix.

Okay thanks. My Counselor/School said that the Stats for PSYC is supposed to count for math...Do you know if this is a common thing that AMCAS is fine with as long as there's an explanation? The class is literally Intro to Statistics just with a PSYC prefix but doesn't deal with psychology...

You can list the class prefix however you want (PSYC/MATH) when you fill out the primary app, but during the application verification process, AMCAS will review and categorize the class as they see. From what I know from people who tried to appeal their decision, AMCAS is unlikely to change their designation.

What really matters is how schools classify it. Some schools had me list all my courses that fulfill their school-specific course requirements on their secondary applications. For one school, they questioned the course I had listed for biochem (the course I took was "CHEM: Intro to Biological Processes"). I had to forward them a copy of the course description, syllabus, and the book list for the class. After all that, THEN they realized it was actually a biochem class with a weird name.

How a course is classified depends on the content of the course. Stats will count as math regardless of whether it’s biostatistics or psych stats as long as it’s an actual stats course. I know a few people who took bio stats and said it was beneficial. But I’ve taken a couple regular stats classes, and I can see they can be helpful too.
