Okay so here's the deal- its my 3rd year of undergrad chemistry major
graduating with my bachelors this year (yeah buddy). I wanted to do pharmacy, so i got my pharm tech license 2 months after graduating high school and worked weekends, just to make sure I actually like pharmacy before committing. Well it's been 3 years and i like it.

So here's my problem:
I have straight A's in chemistry and a few B's in my bio classes. I suck at math. It ruined my GPA. I failed precalc the first time and made a C the second time. And a C in calc.

So my science gpa is a 3.7
And my math gpa is a 1.8

It's killing my overall gpa because it's 12 units of math that I did horribly in. Any suggestions of schools that don't care about math!!?

How can you suck at math, and pass classes like senior inorganic, pchem1&2 and analytical chem?

I think all medical professions you get a doctorate in will care about math. You could kick ass on the pcat math section, that would show you have the skills.

I also majored and chemistry and had pretty terrible math grades while doing well in my chemistry courses. In addition, I bombed the quant section of the PCAT pretty hard. Every school I applied to offered me an interview. As long as the rest of your application is good, they don't seem to care too much.

Natorx, don't know how to answer your question. I guess it's just the setting in which the math is presented that makes me understand it or not.

Looks like me and you have the same problem. I have high grades in all my other classes but Math seems low. The path I'm taking is if my math GPA isn't up to par i will retake it and try better at a local community college.

The difference is between applied math (physics, chemistry, etc.) and theoretical math (calculus, etc.). It takes a certain kind of student to do well in each category.

I don't remember having seen a school with a required minimum math GPA. I believe the majority of pharmacy schools look at overall GPA and science GPA, and as long as the rest of your application is solid, I doubt they're going to worry too much about it.

Yeah I got a 92 on my Pcat. With a 27 on the Quant. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I think if you just let them know that since you are aware math is a weakness you pay special attention to studying and mastering concepts where math is involved. That and you are really good with a calculator 🙂.

I have the same problem. I have only ever gotten C's in all of my math courses since starting college. I am in trig right now and hoping I can do better to show them that I am making an effort. Good luck!!

oh dear...

and I thought I was bad at math.
