there are 3 rooms, and the painter has 10 colors. If the room are A B C D how many different ways can he paint the room. I know the answer for this kind of question but I think the question is not as specific as possible. Because it does not indicate that whether we could use the paint more than one. So the answer they give is for the paint only use ONE time.

My question is do you always assume that we only use ONE time for this kind of question?
