Matriculation Certiphi Drug Test

I hate to be this guy, but I am matriculating into a Texas MD program and I got an email that they are performing a drug test by certiphi, which I need to take in two weeks. I graduated last winter and have partaken in occasional marijuana since my graduation. I have already quit all THC consumption a week ago, since I want to be clear headed in medical school, but this caught me off guard. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with certiphi drug test, for example, what is the THC cut off, 50 ng/ml (most common) or 20 ng/ml. Furthermore, do they watch you void?

I am not interested in anybodies ethical opinion, just y'alls experience so I know what I am getting myself into.

I doubt they would watch you void however if you try a cleanser or fake urine I'm sure the lab has ways of picking up on that.
The standard cutoff is 50 ng/ml but some places it is lower so why don't you call them anonymously and ask? Either way - two to three weeks of not smoking is going to be tight. You can order testing kits online to see if you are going to fail.
This is probably obvious to you now - but how did you not anticipate getting drug tested as a medical student?!

Hospital UDS that I recently took in TX didn't watch me void, but they did check temperature right away. If I were you, I'd sweat, hydrate & repeat for the next 2 weeks. Shouldn't be too hard to sweat in TX right now....

I guess you'll have a sink if they make you pee in the bathroom, which is normally the case, so run hot water over the closed container. Wipe off water after. Make sure it isn't too warm though either lol
 
Thanks guys. This isn't my normal SDN account, I made a new one for this post (for obvious reasons). I have come too far to let something like this ruin it. Having that said, I am abstaining from illegal drugs from now on. The amount of stress and anxiety this is causing me makes it just not worth it.
 
You'll be clean when you take the uds. Go get a personal test and I bet you could probably pass now. 7-10 days is a realistic window of detection if you used a lot. Your more likely to get in trouble from gaming the uds than actually coming up with anything. The 30 day window is a myth.
 
when I did mine you could not have gotten away with that - they fill the sink and the toilet with some sort of dyed water and instruct you not to flush the toilet or wash your hands until you've given the sample

if you keep the container of urine in contact with your body for long enough it will become body temp

dont do that. its a pretty big no no to use the sink during a drug test. even at quest you're not even allowed to wash your hands until after they collect your sample and check the temperature and all that.

Also considering THC is stored in fat cells, a strong thermogenic could help eliminate it from your system.

I honestly haven't looked this up in quite some time, but I think they have to have a warrant to test for the gender of the patient being drug tested. It is some form of invasion or privacy, unless you sign a paper that says they can do it, but no drug testing facility has ever had that for as long as I have been around the medical field.
 
What's your body fat %? You want to start turning over the fat in your body to get rid of any stored THC. I'd recommend exercise every day and have a clean friend on reserve. Maybe 1-2 days before the test buy a couple at home tests from a drug store. If you're clean, you're good. If not, hit that friend up. As said above, most places have water in toilet dyed and the sink might not work. Temperature is also tested..

How much use was "occasional"? If you were only smoking every few weeks then I'd expect you'd be able to pass a test with three weeks clean...

3 days if its just once a week. The detection time is way overplayed by people. The crazy detection times people throw around are from back in the day when the cutoffs were way low and the false positive were much higher.

I disagree with this... It's common to test positive for several weeks to more then a month. It is completely dependent on the person but I know you can definitely test positive upwards of a month even with the high cutoff.

Again, testing yourself is the best bet.

I wasn't saying it takes three weeks to pass a test, I was pointing out that since OP will have been clean for three weeks, he should pass.
 
Just wondering, how common is it for schools to drug test prior to matriculation?

O yeah, I got that. Just agreeing with you. Just making sure OP understands he shouldnt take extraordinary measures to pass since hell be fine.

I agree he should get a test kit for himself to be sure though. Of course if OP is a long term chronic user thats obese and inactive, it could stay for 10-15 days depending on the data your looking at. Disagreeing on length of detection, but it seems were on the same page about not borrowing urine or whatever trick people are suggesting that will be way more likely to get him in trouble.
 
2 weeks? run and eat only salad for a week, then eat bacon egg cheese and mcdoubles qd for a week until the test. stay well hydrated
 
Thank goodness I go to a school where they would never consider drug testing any of us for fear of kicking out the majority of the class...

so common you should count on it at least every time you change practice environments

if you have any sort of serious and immediately reportable injury at work, like for worker's comp, you could be drug tested that very day

how much you will ever be able to get away with safely and maintain your medical career will vary a lot

if being a pot-smoking attending is super important to you, you could probably craft your career to get away with a lot

otehrwise, safest thing to assume is that you can't

some things you have to give up for the *profession*
it's not just a "job," you take a ****ing oath

From what Im told, none of the CA schools except for maybe loma linda tests.
Sinai tests for sure
 
I may be wrong, but wouldn't you be able to tell them that you smoked it in Colorado where it's legal?

Often there is a clause in your handbook that basically requires you to abstain regardless of legality. I suppose it would depend though

Also it is still illegal federally, so even if it is legal to Colorado it is illegal to the US gov

Not at my school. We were specifically warned that if we came back positive before rotations there would be serious consequences, including failing our first rotation if you didn't test negative in time to rotate there. Doesn't matter where it was used for us, if it's in our system we get punished.

I believe that most schools do it right before clinical years. I know that my school sneakily does it during your peds rotation without formal warning.
 
Just found out that my med school will be drug screening every incoming MS1 sometime in the first semester. It says so right in the student handbook. Better stop my ayahuasca habit now.
 
Can we get religious waivers for peyote use?

My school does not drug test. That said, I've abstained from marijuana-related activities in part because it was never really said that we wouldn't get drug tested, but also because I'm busy and just don't have the time or the drive to spend hours being high and dealing with the amotivational side effects.
