My friend told me that some schools matriculate people without having interviewed them first. I think he mentioned University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio.

How is being matriculated without being interviewed first even possible...? Are those schools just desperate to fill up the class?

I think your friend was lying.

lol sure. because there are so many seats and so few applicants.... (sarcasm if you can't tell)

Don't believe it. A girl I knew in undergrad who took the MCAT but never applied told me she was emailed an acceptance from UTSW simply because her score was so high (35). She, of course, had decided to decline and do something else. When I called her on it she stook to her story but our relationship was never the same because of it. 🙄

a 35? do you keep in touch with her? i'd like her autograph

Michigan State's DO school doesn't interview, they simply hand out acceptances after the secondary. It's not that incredulous.

maybe she meant one of those "hey your mcat is high, apply to our school" things

Don't they have some standardized/special LOR form to fill out instead?

Yeah, it's a pain in the butt. They give you some ad-hoc survey to have filled out by 3 sources, and you can't hand in more than 3 even if you have more sources readily available.

He mentioned wrong. None of the Texas schools are desperate enough to not interview applicants.
I don't know of any schools that do this, but hey, if it exists, I'm willing to apply! lol

san antonio does have some combined bs/md stuff. maybe thats why, even though im sure those programs do interviews before they enter college, not in between (maybe thats what he meant)

That's what I said. I was like, "are you sure it meant an acceptance and not just an invitation to interview?" "No, it was definitely an acceptance." "Are you sure it wasn't a podiatry school?" "No, it was UTSW, but I don't really want to do medicine anymore." I don't even think her MCAT was a 35 but that's apparently what she felt was high enough for this to happen. It hurt me a little that someone I was friends with would just flat out lie to me like that. And I already had multiple acceptances - did she think I'm stupid? Oh well... I can be lame too.

Lots of schools do guaranteed acceptance programs for sophomores at the undergrad attached to the med school...maybe some of these do not do interviews?

She could be referring to the JAMP program, but those people are just guaranteed an acceptance at one of the Texas schools, but they still have to interview at them to see which one.
