Hi Everyone,

The MSAR lists almost all schools (all schools that I actually looked up) as having a maximum of two weeks for applicants to respond to offers - are these schools all expecting a commitment one way or another? Or do you just need to lay a deposit that's refundable until May? I could understand this to be a way so that they can ensure acceptees that don't end up going actively withdraw their applications...

For MD schools, it's usually a small, refundable deposit (usually around 100 bucks). It just holds your place, and you will get it back as long as you withdraw by May 15th, which you have to do for all schools but one. You can hold multiple acceptances, and it is not a binding decision.

I think DO schools have more expensive and/or non-refundable deposits. I don't know much about that.

+1. Note that certain medical schools have non-refundable deposits as well.

Meharry, for example, has (or had last year) a non-refundable, $300 deposit.
