So how does this process work? Do schools start to call their waitlist applicants immediately after this deadline, or do they wait a couple of weeks to re-evaluate the people on their list and then start making the calls? And how long do they give someone a chance to respond back if they cannot reach the person immediately? Thanks for the info.

They wait a little bit to see how many spots they have open then start to call. The time to respond varies from school to school.
