The following COMLEX-USA examination scores have been mailed and are available online:

Comlex Level 1 CBT scores for May 2006 have been released. All remaining Level 1 candidate scores are expected to be released in the next few weeks in the order of the test administrations.

I feel like my life is being put on hold b/c I havent got the June scores back.
The wait is killing me....tick tock, tick, tock, tick, tock.......

Took it May 31st. Got my score today. 735/98 😱

I felt this test was not about studying boards material. It was so random. A lot of stuff I felt was pulled out of your two years of classes. I would love to give advice to the next generation of test takers, but I honestly wouldn't know where to start.

Study for your classes like you are studying for boards and COMLEX will turn out fine for you! You can DO it 😀

That's over 3 standard deviations above the mean, how is it not a 99? Weird...maybe the SD was much greater this year.

Congratulations, Sether...that is a stellar score. By the appearances of things, the two digit of the comlex is not comparable to the 2 digit of the usmle. In saying that, I mean that an astronomical score on comlex will not necessarily put you at a 99 but even just a high score on usmle will. Perhaps comlex has scaled it so that both 2 digit and 3 digit scores distinguish the students performance. On usmle, if you score greater than a 244, only the 3 digit score does so (so, a lot of people with 99s on usmle).

Just a thought. I am curious to learn of the s.d. of the 2006 comlex.

What a relief to get my score!

No where near Sether's score, but I'm thrilled with passing and beating the Ave even if only by 11! 😀

Still confused with the significance of the 2-digit score...is that our "nth percentile"? Congrats to all of you who passed!

No, it's not a percentile at least according to the NBOME website. Supposedly it's supposed to correlate with USMLE scores better than the 3 digit score does.

Do the score reports contain the SD?

Their website says that the SD for the 3 digit score is 79 for the last set of examinations they gave (through Oct. 05). However, the SD always seems to be in the 70-80 range for any of the exams.....Not exact but gives you an idea. The 2 digit score it says is dependent on each individual testing period......

I took it June 12th.
Statistically speaking wouldn't they have to know everyone's scores since they used them all to get the necessary statistical power?

Just a thought. Still sucks to have to wait who knows how much longer.

Maybe they're just rewarding those of us who busted our butts first to take the test sooner and making the procrastinators wait 😀

Not necessarily. With the new testing format, your tests will likely be graded using the last set of scores from testers with a similar/same exam. So you could be scored relative to test-takers from one year ago.

Who knows where the NBOME comes up with the 2 digit score. Tea leaves? Cloud interpretation?

My three digit score was actually a good bit higher than that and my two digits was many points less. ???

It seems that my COMLEX score may be actually hurting my application for allopathic residency. My two digit USMLE is a 99 with a lower three digit (by SD) but my COMLEX two digit is lower with a MUCH higher SD. I knew people last year that had insanely high three digit scores but fairly low two digit scores by USMLE standards. It just goes to prove that the allopathic programs directors still cannot compare us apples to apples unless you take the USMLE and then the COMLEX can still hurt you!!!

Intentional?? Hmmm.

BTW, good job guys!!!!!!

2 questions.

1. You're saying your 3-digit COMLEX was more than sether's (735), but your 2-digit was less than his (98)?? That can't be...

2. Can't you specify on ERAS to not send COMLEX scores to MD programs?

I think what he is saying is this, I was in a similar boat after step I (USMLE vs COMLEX). According to SDs I was 2 SD above the mean for COMLEX and only 1 SD above the mean for USMLE, but my 2 digit score was still higher on the USMLE than the COMLEX. Does that make sense?

1. Yup. It is. I don't know how.

2. Yes. I thought about that. I think it looks a little suspicious though since they know we took it. Furthermore, why should I have to hide a good (better) score?? Very frustrating.

So what is a good two-digit score? And what was the the average three digit score...my knowledge of statistics is really lacking.

Do they report percentile scores anymore, maybe that 98 is a percentile? My three digit score (in 04) was higher than that, and my percentile was 99, but my actual 2-digit score, which was posted online, was lower. By the way, this is what residency programs saw when I applied, the 757/92, which is statistically a much better score than my 258/99 USMLE, but that got me much more love.

According to the NBOME site the scores are scaled so that 500 is the mean with a SD of 75-79 over the last 5-6 years.

2 digit score? Your guess is as good as mine!

I've also been having trouble logging into the access page. I'm able to access the NBOME home page & all the other links in it, but once I click on the red access button to view scores, "page cannot be displayed" appears. It doesn't even bring me to the page where I can enter user id & password. I called NBOME directly, thinking it was an issue with their server & they told me, it must be my computer 😱 . I've tried using both my laptop & desktop (the same exact computer I used to register online for the exam ie: was able to access it B4 w/o any problem) & still no luck! I know they require microsoft internet explorer browser, which is what I am using. I went to a nearby Kinko's & used their computer & was able to log in??? I don't know if it's the new service pack/current updates from microsoft for my laptop & computer that's causing the problem, but then again I used the same desktop to schedule my exam not too long ago & had no problems then. Does anyone have any advice? I would hate to have to go to Kinkos to access my score. I'd rather do it in the privacy of my own home.

raptor5... do you mind posting here, how u reset your wireless network? I have both a desktop & a laptop (w/ wifi) & I use a linksys router. my desktop is directly connected to the router by a cable (not wirelessly) but my laptop is accessing internet wirlessly. also, do you mind posting what version of microsoft internet explorer you're using, just in case that's the issue in my case. thank you so much !!! 🙂

Congrats to all that have taken it and especially to those that have done great so far.

Would any of you mind letting me know on any study hints that you guys used to get those stellar scores. I'm taking it on 9/19 and pharm is killing me. Any help, small or big would be great. Congrats again everyone and good luck to those still waiting!!

Until he gets a chance to reply, you can try turning your modem and router off and back on again. That should reset your network.

Disconnect router then cable modem. Reconnect cable modem then router. If that doesn't work try it again but this time perform a hard reset of the router (by pushing in the reset button in the back of the router, you will lose your security settings when you do this so your router may need to be reconfigured) and reconnect modem and router.
Linksys router. IE 6.0

I'm not a computer expert, BUT if the router/network was the problem you not only wouldn't be able to connect to NBOME, but also SDN. So, the problem was most likely something at their website and if you're able to access other web pages, resetting all that stuff is probably just a waste of time. I will say however that sometimes a simple reset of your computer will fix specific web page problems (I think it has to do with Cache issues or something).

Good Luck to you...My advice would be to keep on doing what is killing you. I had a ton of pharm on mine and it really helped my score out a bunch. Don't stress out too much.

Got my paper copy saturday. Average was 500 again with a 79 SD.

I got my paper copy today.

The only extra info they give you besides what Sether said is a breakdown on a sliding scale of Low Performance, Borderline Performance or High performance for the following areas:

Physician skills: Health Promotion/Disease Prevention, History and Physical, Diagnostic techniques, Management, and Scientific Understanding of Mechanisms.
Topic Categories: Osteopathic Principles & Practice, and General Osteopathic Medicine.

Ironically I hated Cranial and most of the rest of 2nd year OMM but scored High Performance in Osetopathic Principles & Practice as well as General Osteopathic Medicine, though neither was as high as my "Scientific Understanding of Mechanisms", H&P, or Health Promotion/Ds Prevention levels.

I'd personally rather have a break-down of how I did on Pharm vs Path vs Phys vs Biochem etc than what they give but I passed and did a lot better than I expected so who cares 😀

I WANT MY SCORE!!!!!!

ahhhh, I feel better now. I called nbome today and the person I talked to said they had no idea of when the scores for june will be released nor did she know what the hold-up was. FYI

I definitely remember that feeling Miracle!
When you get your score, the great feeling of relief is well worth the wait. The sun is brighter, the air is cleaner, the birds sing prettier, and the beer tastes better😀

That's a real shocker...the NBOME has no idea...about anything...at all...

Have we no recourse? What if we just jam up their switchboard with phone calls all day long? Maybe that'll get them to take their 👍s out of their rear ends? 😡

MDmiracle might have asked the person who was pretty low in the food chain (i.e customer service). We need to ask a person higher up in the food chain.

I'll admit it was the customer service rep. who answered the phone that I asked. I tried to get to the person who oversees step one and they wouldn't patch me through.
