I am not sure what is going on with Mayo. They send me an email today asking both money and the LORs. It could b/c I am applying for MSTP at Mayo.

Anyone who applied to Mayo MSTP (past or present) want to comment on that? Since they asked for my LORs, does this mean I pass the first hurdle? Any insight regarding MSTP process at Mayo? Pheonix? Thanks.

Hey, I just got that too. I'm pretty sure it's just an MSTP thing. Especially since LORs are much more important for MSTP since they usually come from research supervisors and tell them a lot about the applicant that cannot be determined from AMCAS and $85 ($85 tells me a lot, but it apparently doesn't tell Mayo anything). So I don't think we have the same hurdles for Mayo that the MD process has. It's interesting though! I was excited to finally hear from them.

Quick question regarding Mayo MSTP -

I was verified by AMCAS in mid-July. Yesterday I also received that email requesting $85, letters of rec, a page of info to fill out and return by email, and a ratings sheet to give to my letter writers. However, I already had 5 letters of rec turned into my school's academic advising months/years ago and sent out on VirtualEvals several weeks ago - do I have to track down those 5 letter-writers to give them the ratings sheet to fill out and mail (which'll be quite difficult considering one's retired, and I've lost track of her)? Or is the waiver and university LOR good enough? Thanks.

You only need 3 LOR's minimum so I guess you have to at least get 3 ratings

I called them today and Lisa said you have to have the rating sheet with each letter you want them to consider. Best of luck.

No worries breeak...I'm sure it's coming...and whatever it is...it's better than an outright rejection right? I've been waiting for a good month too, probably just depends who's reviewing your file.

I have been tempted to run down to admissions and check the status sometime today though.

Totally agree with you breeak. I've already reached the 4 week mark stated within their email. At this point I don't really care if its rejection or a LOR request...I just want to know so that I can either set my sights on my next top choice or continue the mayo dream....*sigh*.
 
You guys are all getting e-mails to confirm LOR receipt, correct? I got the invite 8/6 and immediately sent an e-mail to say that my letters were available on VirtualEvals (They have been on there since 7/3) but haven't received anything back yet. Should I call?

I didn't apply to mayo, I just like taunting you guys. And I know, once I get accepted I will donate and get it changed back I think.
 
Why havent they sent me an email confirming my LORs...guess i have to call.
 
i called yesterday. they said they don't confirm LORs. They said they "pull them as they need them" and that if you sent them via interfolio etc. you will be fine.

Ok so I just talked to Marcy...looks like there maybe behind because she said the dean was reviewing my file (I paid a month ago)...and that it might be a few weeks. So...either they're moving slow or I have a tricky file...maybe a bit of both?...
 
I just don't understand why people who have paid the fees in late july/early august got the LOR request before us. Is it because they were that good or is there some order they're going through this?

She didn't say. She seemed pretty optimistic about the whole process though. Maybe they divy them up among the deans to read over?...though I thought it was people on the committee that were checking them?...

ohh wow. if it's the dean doing all of this, i'm not surprised that it's taking a long time. i'm guessing it's just that the apps are taking a lot of time to go over. but there must be some organized way that they review the apps...

Actually I just called right now, and they said that they send out emails after the letters have been processed and put in to your file.

I talked to Marcy earlier this week too, since I'm over 4 weeks (I sound like I'm pregnant. Pregnant with EXPECTATION!) She said basically that they have a ton of apps this year and they review each one thoroughly, so to be patient and not read anything more into it than that. I am trying. Really trying.

I think this process is going to kill me and it's only August. haha PATIENCE!!!! Ok, it's all good.

I don't have an exceptional application at all and I payed in august and was invited a few days later. Good luck.
