Can anyone speak for the reputation and/or quality of the Mayo clinic branch in Jacksonville or the CCF branch in Weston?

Would this be a good place for IM residency if hoping for fellowship in Cards or GI?

Compared to the quality of training at the main Mayo/CCF sites in Rochester and Cleveland.

Compared to other community programs in FL (which is what they are), they're pretty good. Compared to the motherships? They're just community programs with fancy names.

Mayo jax is top notch .. CCF in weston, is anything to be desired. The best programs in florida are the academic ones -- UF-gainesville, USF-Tampa, and UM- Jackson.

If by top notch you mean a mediocre community program... then yes.

Notice 2 things: first basically no one matched to Mayo Rochester except Geriatrics and there's not a whole lot of interest in geriatrics. The second thing is that few people matched to notable other academic programs in the region.

Heck, UF matched more people to Mayo Rochester than Mayo Florida did. That speaks volumes.

There are 4 decent (Endo and Geri @ Real Mayo, Renal @ Vandy and Rheum @ Scripps) and one good (Cards at Iowa) match in that whole list.

As with all fellowship match lists, it's mostly smoke and mirrors...actually, mostly smoke. We don't know either the numerator or the denominator so who knows how "good" it is. And honestly, it looks like the match lists of virtually every other community program with in-house fellowships. 75+% match in-house, a few others, generally in non-competitive sub-specialties, escape and there's usually one or 2 studs (over the course of 3 or 4 years) who actually score solid/stellar matches.

I like Marshfield's match list better 😀
