Hi all,

I am trying to decide whether who to rank higher- Mayo AZ or Mayo MN. Any thoughts? I realize the weather in AZ is better but how about the differences in relation to academics? Thanks

Please tell me you're kidding. Real Mayo vs Miracle Whip? That shouldn't even be a discussion.

Real Mayo: A top X (X being a number between 0 and 40) academic program with excellent fellowship and research opportunities.
Miracle Whip: A pretty good community program.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Are there any specifics from insiders in these programs?

My 2 cents: If you really are a cardiologist to be, then you should rank Mayo Rochester much higher. Coming out of that program you will have a lot better chance at getting a competitive fellowship than if you came from a community program.

I would look at where the programs graduates go.

What do you guys think of Mayo AZ? Is it a community program? The fact thats its "mayo" program does that help in fellowship placement?

i am curious how the OP's rank list will look come february...

Personally, I would pick AZ over Crapchester.

Yeah cards competition and all that (though lets see what the song everyone is singing when a cardiac cath pays $50 and level 4 office visits pay $100) but seriously AZ>>>>>ALL OTHER STATES

ARIZONA RULES.

Huh, that's certainly something you don't hear every day.

Yeah. Scottsdale does own Rochester. It's not the greatest career move if your gunning for cards. It's not like it can't happen but it's all about what you want.

I got the impression, at least in oncology, that there is a movement toward creating a uniform treatment plan across the Mayo systems. Joining their research databases, etc. Apparently quite a bit of that is in place, but moving forward with it in the future. While that may be great for the mothership, I didn't get a sense for how that would be for the 2 warmer campuses. My questions were vaguely answered.

The question becomes how much Tundra can you handle for a good cardiology fellowship? Light miracle whip can taste just as good on a sandwich as ole fashioned fattening mayo for 3 years. The question is what happens when you order your dessert?

I have it on good authority that the Mayo AZ program barely even takes any residents from in house ever. So don't go there and hope to win your way in.

My understanding is that 2017 is the first year. Where are you getting statistics about residency acceptances
