Hey, anyone who is interviewing at Mayo in Rochester, MN, how much have your flights been? I am flying from St. Louis, and the flights seem to be ridiculously expensive even if you book well in advance. Thinking Rochester being a smaller town may be more expensive with less flights traveling there, I checked flights to Minneapolis/St. Paul MN and they are actually more $$. So overall, seems to be about in $400's range by Northwest or American. Just curious how much peoples flights have been who have booked (granted it will vary potentially based on departing city).

Not that this will help you much, but when I flew there last year in November 07, it cost $230 to get into Rochester.

$307 roundtrip from chicago...ugh! have you tried orbitz or one of those websites?

Hey, drbetty, yeah that was on orbitz its like 400s. I could always drive to chicago from st louis here. Where you see the $300 flight - what site or airlines. because honestly at this time, that may be one of the better rates I've seen.

2 months ago, I kept checking orbitz, and saw that AA had the lowest listed price ($350-400ish) from chi-town to rochester, then went to the actual AA website and they listed the same exact flight at the lower $307 price.

it is probably my most expensive flight, i feel like nobody would visit me during residency b/c of this cost haha!

just got a tip that ppl often fly into MSP airport and shuttle over to rochester (~90min) if you have the extra time...

at the very least, mayo accommodates one night at a nice hotel!

Why not drive from CHI to Rochester? I mean it cant be but about 5 hours or so and the price of gas now is better so that you could probably get there and back on 3-4 tanks of gas at max. I think that is def an option and that way you can pack your car with everything you may need instead of scrimping on how much you can take with you on the plane.... just my take but i thought that it should be said. good luck either way you go to all
