Mayo Phoenix?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did an IM sub-I there this year and think the program has many good points. I didn't apply there because I don't want to be in Arizona. There are 4 IM teams going at a time consisting of an attending (which changes every week), an upper level resident and 2 interns plus a 4th year sub-I if there is one on rotation at the time. Call is q4, team caps at 8 patients per call night. The entire medical records, charting, etc is computerized, I loved it! The place is very oriented to teaching, morning report & noon conference are standard on weekdays but also there are alot of special lectures that you can attend. If you have any specific questions, post 'em and I'll answer if I can!

Cool, good info. Thanks!

The questions I had about it were basically- do you get to manage your patients yourself, or do all the consult services come in and tell you what to do?
Do people get along well, or are they always cursing each other under their breath?
And- are the patients really all rich white folks?
Thanks!

1. You get to manage the patients, but an attending is going to be on rounds every day and will have to write a note stating that he or she has seen the patient and agree with the plan or adds stuff to it.
2. The people seem to get along well. I did not hear any angry outbursts or cursing under breath. This isn't to say that it might not go on, I just didn't observe it at the time.
3. Pretty much, yes.
Match on!
