Hey all, i have recently made a pretty big "career" change... I was planning on going to dental school, but after some shadowing and what not, I have decided against it. I believe my true calling is somthing business oriented. I would like to stay in the healthcare field for security and various other reasons. Anyways, I will be graduating this year with my bachelors in Biology and minors in chemistry and business admin. I have been thinking about applying to an MBA program. Unfortunately, most "top-tier" business schools require some work experiance, and this is what im lacking. So basically what my question is, Are there any types of duel MBA/MPH programs out there that dont require work experiance? It really doesnt matter if I go to top programs, just something decent. My GPA will be about a 3.5-3.6 when i graduate and am pretty confident i can score pretty well on the GMAT and GRE with some studying. Thanks for the help!

An MPH in health administration could get you into the same types of healthcare-business jobs. You don't necessarily need to have an MBA on top of it.

But MBAs do help a lot esp if they are from a top 20 program. In fact I KNOW you will be guaranteed 6 figures with that dual degree from top 20 programs. Keep in mind MBA is not like medicine, where you got your MBA, is what you get paid for. Just take a look at www.usnews.com and check out the MBA grad programs. You have two people with same credentials, same salary going into an MBA program. The programs are the same, business is BSing anyhow, but a MBA from the top ten schools can expect guaranteed 6 figures or 3X your previous salary, now for lower tier MBAs and online MBAs you can get paid as low as 50s. Same works for Law. Graduate from a top 20 Law program, you will get recruited by top 20 companies, and you will be making $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Go to a third or fourth tier law school and be happy if you start with 50K.

titcr. i'd argue it isn't a sound financial decision to attend anything other than a t15 b school (top 10 to be safe). starting salaries and % employed after graduation are all published (us news includes it in the rankings). look at the starting salaries. then look at tuition. prestige is what matters. prestige. prestige, prestige. take a practice gmat. see what you're capable of scoring. decide if you actually want to go to bschool. its a ****load of money, not a decision to make on a whim i think

Top ranked schools can run 40-45 k a year just in tuition costs.

I totatly agree. If I wanna make the big bucks, i will need to get into a top tier school. I have been doing some research though, and I have found out if I wanna stick to some sort of health administration job. All I will need is a MHA... Then think about the MBA later on in the career.

yup, dont even sweat the grades, get a few years of experience with a good company and heck some companys will pay for your MBA as part of their perks. As long as your above a 3.3 and kick butt on the easy GMAT exam, you will have a GOOD chance at getting into a top 10 MBA school, and your other Masters (MPH,MHA) wont hurt 😉

Starting with a MHA wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion. You could pursue a MBA later if it looked like it would help you careerwise. (Depending on exactly what path you take within health administration it might or might not help significantly).
