Hi everyone,

So above are my current stats. For my undergraduate GPA, I got a 2.2 and 2.6 for sGPA and cGPA respectively. However, I re-took some classes at a community college and took a few extra classes at CalPoly Pomona.

Initially I was aiming to get into a post-bacc program or SMP program. But I know I want to apply to a DO program and I've heard that DO schools look at your best grades. So with all of that said, should I just take the plunge and apply to DO schools with what I have?

Thank you so much for your input, I really appreciate it!

chances are outstanding for DO schools (I assume you at least have some doctor shadowing experience).

Yes, I do! So the GPA or the fact that I re-took classes at a cc won't hurt?

Who cares, lol. You got a 38 MCAT. You're going to be a doctor! 😀

You are looking fine at pretty much any program you want. You are a solid 10 points above the average on your MCAT using some of the most compeititve DO programs as a reference. That is definitely high enough to help clear your previous grades. You are above the 3.0 level too which will help reduce issues with getting screened out at some programs. Also DO schools are much more holistic than many MD schools in their approach to reviewing applicants. They will see your most recent progress and take that into account.

The massive gap between your phenomenal MCAT score and your GPA will come up in an interview though (If its open file). Least I would imagine it would.

Good Luck!!

I wouldn't go so far as to say chances are outstanding, but you'll definitely get in somewhere. Just apply broadly.
