So, I already subscribed the Free Trial from the store link below:

**Hyperlink edited out**

and installed the software. I understand this is a trial, but how do I custom select the FL from the start screen?

Thanks.

There isn't any FL in the Trial. It's just a combination of different test sections, PS, VR, WS, & BS so you may get a feel of the questions on the FLs. The custom feature will work only after the software is licensed. Also, the question banks of the trial and the paid versions are entirely separate.

Cheers.

OK, thanks for clarifying this. This is really an exciting software. Each time I open the program, I get to see something new. The logo that now appears at the start page looks cool though.

On question 13 of Physical Sciences II, the solution has a diagram that seems to be cut off on its right, and there isn't a scroll bar that I can move left and right. Any suggestion how I can bring the entire image to view? or, should I just switch the screen to a higher resolution?

You can simply use the central divider to drag the questions a little bit more to the left. I hope this helps solve your problem.

I noted this trick too after going through the sample test for a while. But elsewhere in the forum, someone ever mentioned that this feature isn't available on the MCAT. My advice is to slide it only when it will be needed to display a wide image in the solution.

Any idea how I can have the test screen fill up all the way to the bottom on a Mac. This would probably simulate a better testing environment, wouldn't it?

It's an executable program that already has the dock adjusted for you. Keep the setting as it is so you don't have to worry about turning the hiding on and off.

Did you guys notice how intuitive achiever's PS section is? I thought I've learnt enough from the books and SDN's Q&A ... Look at how the author introduces some very practical questions in the nomogram passage. The F = ma thing can be drastically different with the car's tires rolling to a stop vs the car skidding to its halt ...

Yes, truly great stuffs in these tests. I never knew the actual reasons behind many phenomena like why the water surface is flat until I get to achiever's questions.

Seriously, these all sound like one guy under multiple accounts promoting his stuff...

This is an open forum where everyone gets to say something deemed best in his/her opinion. Whether or not this thread is meant for a promotion of a new product, it has certainly provided info constructive to MCAT preparation. To the least, you should appreciate how some of these posters take their time out helping the SDNers with their academic problems.

Thanks, Damien. I have another question though:

In this program, I notice that you are given an option to take the test under normal test time, 1.5 times, or 2.0 times longer. The extended time is something I was granted when taking the SAT due to learning disability. Would AAMC accommodate similar circumstances if I were to ask for extra time on the MCAT?

I heard students with learning disability have been granted extended time on the DAT, and am not sure if this would be permitted on the MCAT. You will have to write in and get a definite answer from AAMC. G/L.

I agree... although, if it is really one guy, I salute his patience.. some of his accounts are registered back in '07.. 🙄

haha.. earlier we had a GS spammer.. now MCAT Achievers... btw, has anyone tried it... how is it??

You're really a jovial guy, Baboo. The med school will be to blessed to have you enrolled in their classes with this treasured trait that you have.🙂

The PS is exceptionally good, and there's no doubt about it. Make sure you go through every solution even if you think you've been confident with the answer. Most of us here would know that the water level stay the same when a floating ice fully melts. But if you look at how the whole thing is mathematically explained in the solution and truly understand it, you will apparently grasp the very gist of Archimedes's principle that so often confuses and tricks us on the test. 👍👍👍

What about other sections like BS, VR, WS? Are they any good?

They're comparable to AAMC standards with more random stuffs on the PS and BS sections though. There's a free sample test you can sign up for, which may possibly get you some idea how the questions are going to look like on the full-lengths.

How nice if this were to be granted on the MCAT. It would assuredly help on the verbal which I'm still struggling to finish in time.

The extended time privilege may not be a good thing for the MCAT, since the test will be reported as taken under non-standardized circumstances. This might likely affect ADCOM's decision when making a candidate selection between you and others.

Not really. I personally know of two students with outstanding scores on the DAT (one standardized, and the other not). They both got into UCLA and were granted scholarship on top of that.

I think the graphical representation of mitosis in one of the BS passages is pretty reminiscent of the recent MCATs, where a good understanding of the subject is imperative to analyzing what the questions truly call for.

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing about too, amidst AAMC's effort to stealthily change the MCAT in upcoming years.

Pay attention to the HIV protease passage too. This topic has lately become one of the MCAT favorites.:luck:

You can actually contact the author with any questions from the tests like I mentioned in the other thread. 👍

One of the good things I realize from achiever is that the author is always there to make us think the smart way. Some of the simple mathematical set ups in the solutions are just what we'll need to model after to speed through the exam with great accuracy.

NEW SDN RULE:

any thread that is obviously promoting a product by a new/unknown MCAT prep company must be recommended by at least 3 or 4 posters with 100 or 200 plus posts.

Having tons of people saying how great or cool it is with under 50 posts makes it seem suspect. And the single posts where it just says, "MCAT achiever is cool! buy it" are just stupid. Come on guys, we aren't that dumb. At least start it off saying you've been a lurker or something.

FAKE FAKE FAKE, someone kill this thread.

He is patient.

BobbyJ: MCAT Achiever is pretty good. What do you guys think.

JonnyK: Yeah BobbyJ, they are the best. I can't believe it is only ten thousand dollars!

ErinB: Wow guys, I checked these out and they are fabulous! How do I buy? I've tried every prep company and they all suck except for this one.

BobbyJ: Hey guys, I am a Junior at Bayside University. I hang out with all the cool dudes there. When we study, we use MCAT achiever.

*cut to entrepreneur nerd at home*

They're all falling for my bait! I will be rich.

..., but I still think that you're dumb enough to help bump this thread. BTW, the author doesn't need your money with the tens of thousands of satisfied users he has had under his wings. 🙄

If it's ever permitted in the MCAT, it would be 1.5 times longer instead of twice as long. It's simply not feasible for someone sitting in front of the computer for 8 hours continuously under examination stress. Just my opinion.

Makes sense.

FAKE THREAD, ALL OF THESE POSTS ARE BY EMPLOYEES OF THE COMPANY. ALSO THIS COMPANY HAS THE WORST MCAT CBTs. BUT AAMC, THEN BERKELEY REVIEW, THEN GOLD STANDARD, THEN KAPLAN, THEN TPR. NEVER BUY MCAT ACHIEVER AS IT IS NOT GOOD AND THEIR EMPLOYEES LIE.

yeah i've tried this software it's awful. do not recommend. absolutely awful.

Doesn't sound like someone who has tried the software with a one line post here. Give us some specific/elaborated points as to why you don't like it at least.😉

Okay, I'm reporting this entire thread because it is ABSURD how many of these posters are the exact same person. And how much they spam just to bump the thread up.
