Hey! I just wanted to get some advice from all you awesome people. I'm a junior and I'm supposed to take the MCAT this May, which is about 3 months to prepare. I started taking prep course since last semester, but my scores are still very low (low-mid 20s). I have a heavy course load this semester, so I was thinking if I should drop a few courses and go all in on the MCAT this semester. The problem with this is that I would have a really tough senior year schedule. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks for any advice!

Definitely don't take the MCAT unless you are ready. You'll have to take a lot of full-length tests at the end and see, on average, if you're prepared enough. If you are not then don't take the MCAT. 3 months would be enough - the rest is up to you to figure out 🙂. 20 is definitely pretty low but not a disaster.. many people take the MCAT their senior year or after they graduate. Try to make the decision that will most likely get you into medical school.

Take the MCAT during the summer or after you graduate so you won't have to compete with your classes or drop any. Dropping classes doesn't look good.

Good advice from both of the previous 2 posters.

The MCAT is one of the most important exams you will ever take, and because of that you should dedicate your undivided attention to studying for it, if possible.

By spreading yourself thin studying for college, working, and studying for MCAT there is no way you're going to get the best possible MCAT score that you're capable of. You'll get your best MCAT score if you only focus on MCAT. Of course not everyone is able to drop everything for an exam, but you should have as few distractions as possible during study.

Save up enough money so you can afford to take a few months off during summer and just study MCAT for 3 months.
