I've started taking AAMC Practice tests and I've basically gotten the same score with similar breakdowns on each section. I really would love some advice on how to improve my score on each section. I've covered all of the content and I review after each test but somehow my score is stagnant at a 30. I'm taking AAMC 8 next and would love to improve. Whenever I review my tests afterwards, I notice the questions that I vacillate on are the ones I tend to get wrong. Seriously, any HELPFUL advice is welcome. Has anyone been in a similar situation and was able to improve his or her score?

AAMC 3: PS-10, V-10, BS-10
AAMC 4: PS-10, V-9, BS-11
AAMC 5: PS-10, V-11, BS-9

Thank you!

By not knowing what material you use for content review, it is difficult to make a concrete suggestion.

If I were you, I would stop taking AAMC #8 at least temporary if time is still on your side; and go back to do some content review and particularly run through more timed passages in both BS & PS. Your VR is really not bad. 😎

You have to review the tests extensively and see where your weaknesses are. Practice will continue to push you but finding out what points you're missing could push you more. From the scores you've given us I can't tell anything unfortunately.

For content review I used EK for BS and a mixture of EK/BR/Chad's videos for PS.

I've been really only using BR for practice passages but I didn't really start doing these practice passages until I realized I realized I was getting basically the same score on PS and BS (so...recently).

I'm not as worried about verbal as I probably should be only b/c I'm more worried with PS and BS (mainly PS).

I tend to always be in a time crunch when it comes to the PS section (i.e. for AAMC #5 - which I just went over in detail - I had only 6 minutes left to do 1 passage and a 4 discretes and I had skipped 2-3 questions that I had to go back and answer). Once I went over AAMC #5, I realized that the questions (about 3-4 of them) I had missed b/c of my time crunch were actually fairly straightforward and not that difficult...but they were mainly calculation based and therefore, I didn't have time to work out the problems.

Thanks for the all of the comments already!

I kind of don't want to ask this...but I'm going to anyway.
After going over the 3 tests I've taken...I truly believe I'm capable of a 35+ (I know this is a ballsy declaration but I really believe this.

With that said. Should I postpone? I've signed up for the 3/24 test date.

The short version of answer is: Yes, postpone 😕 or No, go for it 😴

I am the father of one who will dive in to battle this beast on 3/24. We had gone through a marathon debate for days last summer whether he should take the 1/28 one as originally planned or postpone to summer of 2013 right after his graduation. He has a very ugly workload at school & he didn't think he could handle the brutal MCAT study at the top of it. He said it will kill him. After searching his soul for days, my son decided to go for the 3/24 one. He had very long days & nights the past 3 months. But so far, he survives. He worked his Axx off "26" hours a day 😱. I monitor his mental & physical states daily to be sure he does not BURN OUT 😡.:wtf:

We all here want to support you and I can see where you come from. If I may, I want to be bloody honest with you. I can be wrong; but I feel that you are asking permission to postpone. I recall it was stated by a SDN memeber in another thread (I don't remember where) that MCAT is not testing your intelligence but your habit of study and the way you handle yourself. Among the SDN members here, there are lots of very smart people who had/have highly declarable school records. These are cream of the crops in the current academic generation. However, quite a few of them are still having the problem in various degree to tackle this MCAT beast as you experienced.

Your score in BS & PS are not BAD & you seemed have the smartness to raise that to another level. But I sense that you didn't sound having the confidence to hit this MCAT beast head on.

Well, 3/24 is 16 days and counting and you want to raise to, say 13/11/13 ?

By just reading your thread, at least for me, I can't see the whole picture on where you are at, most important, your school/working/study environment. That is crucial.

My 2 cents comment is this: If that makes you "regain" your confidence, by all means move to April test; but WORK YOUR BUTT OFF to raise those 3 points pair. "Raise 3 points in 5/6 weeks is highly possible but is very challenging". Otherwise, the postponement is just an empty and meaningless time shift. 👎

Believe in yourself. Spend a couple of days laying out your new battle plan & go for it.:claps: YOU CAN DO IT 😀👍

Can you please explain/direct as to what are 'chad's videos'? Also, if you know of any online video mcat science prep that is free - please advise. thanks 🙂

Chad has good basic gen chem/physics/ and organic chemistry review videos posted on ***********.com
