I have never taken an anatomy course, and my biology course did not cover anatomy at all, stuff like the nervous system, cardiovascular system, i don't really know anything about. I plan on self studying with examkrackers, will using the biology book be enough? i will for sure look up anything i dont understand online or something, but will everything (to your best knowledge) that could be on the mcat be at least mentioned in this book?

EK will be enough depending on your definition of enough. IMO it will be a great review to get an overall view of what everything does and how it works especially since its easy to follow, but don't expect everything you need to know on that book. Just be aware that there are more details to learn and you will be fine with EK.

As far as I know, anatomy isn't really a big deal--do you mean physiology? Physiology is a bit more important, and while I haven't looked at EK's physio, my instincts tell me you'll probably want a more detailed book to learn physio from (I'd actually recommend taking the MCAT after you take a physio class, if that's possible).

yeah, i do understand that i need more detail. i dont know if this makes sense, but after reading the bio portion of ek, will i at least have an idea of what i need to get more detail on? like say i need to know about hormone x. will EK at least mention hormone x and i would need to go out and get more info, or would i need to just know i would need to know about hormone x. the latter would suck because then there would be endless different things that i might need to know that EK doesnt mention at all.

The EK is a great starting point, but it will be difficult for you to know what is missing. For example, it will probably mention hormone X and list three facts about it but it doesnt talk about how hormone Y suppresses it or that hormone X can be important in organ B as well as organ A if you get my drift. But if you do EK and do a lot of passages, I think you'll just pick up those details as you move along.

When are you taking the MCAT? EK offers a superficial look at all the organ systems and how they work. It's meant for review. Since you've never been introduced to these concepts, you may not understand some of it without at least a little background and/or it won't be enough to draw a complete picture for your MCAT prep. What I would do is read through EK, then get another book (maybe TPR?) to fill in the gaps.

If you're not taking the MCAT this year, I would try to take an upper level Physiology course or a lower level Anatomy & Physiology course (be aware that it's usually in the second semester of A&P that you get into the physiology of organ systems, whereas a one-semester Physiology course deals with it right away since there's no anatomy to get through).

i am taking the mcat probably the end of next summer, so i have plenty of time. i plan on reading through ek, and then anything i dont understand, reading about it on teh itnernet or a biology text. i will try to take a physiology course second smester next year, hopefully i will be able to study abroad and take one.

Yeah if you're taking it next year, I think there's no harm in working through a more detailed text, like TPR Hyperlearning bio. I think it would just make it easier for you to learn.

lol, well i already bought examkrackers complete study guide, so i was just hoping that it would have everything i need to know, then i have time to get additional details from other sources.
