I'm not taking the MCAT until this coming April or thereabouts, but I am concerned about taking the test under one name and then applying to med schools with another...

I am planning to take the test in April, and then I am getting married in May (and planning on changing my name)... When I put my med school applications in in June or thereabout, my name will therefore no longer match the name I took the MCAT under. Any thoughts? I'm concerned about doing anything that will result in a slower processing of my applications.

Congratulations on eventually getting married! Must be nice 😳

Don't worry, the AMCAS app has "Preferred Name," "Legal Name," and "Alternative Names."

You'll be fine. Good luck 🙂

You should contact the AAMC on this though I'm thinking you should be alright. The AMCAS has an entry for all names you have used and gone by. And you're SSN is still the same. Once you register for either the MCAT or the AMCAS you will be assigned an AAMC ID number that will link everything.
