I was just wondering if any MCAT books are available as e-books for purchase, like the Princeton Review ones. Someone on e-bay is trying to sell Princeton Review Hyperlearning Workbooks as PDF's, so I was just wondering if they were legit.

Thanks!

I dunno I think those are probably scanned and being re-sold (since it's easier to distribute digitally). I don't think anyone here is going to recommend you to buy those either.

Dang, I accidentally bought an item off of eBay that was a PDF version not realizing it since I didn't think people would sell them online and the listing image was that of a book (although the item description said pdf; I just jumped on getting a good deal). I haven't used/opened/downloaded the files at all. Should I report the seller and ask for a refund?

It's illegal to buy or sell due to copyright infringement.

Definitely report the guy to eBay and you're sure to get a refund.

It is illegal to even scan and copy a book you legally own, usually.

Always consult the copyright page of the book, which states these rules. It is always before the table of contents.

I scan my own textbooks, due to having a print related disability. I go to Kinko's and get the binding cut. Then I sit in front of the scanner and watch movies as I scan the book, page by page on the platen, in 600 DPI (Dots Per Inch). I save on to a flash drive every 10 pages or so. After I am done scanning, I combine the files and I have a full PDF of the book, using Adobe Acrobat Professional. I do not OCR (optical character recognize) the book. If I were to OCR I would use ABBYY Finereader. Scanning the first 100 pages is always grueling.

It might be illegal, but there are electronic versions of the mcat books out there. I had a searchable PDF version of the examkrackers that I had on my iPhone to study on the go when I didn't want to bring the books around.

This is true. Just search Craigslist. It's surprising, but people actually post that they have the PDFs to sell including FLs for GS and TBR
