How would you go about booking a backup date, or reserving a backup date for the MCAT? I am not trying to be a downer, but just in case I mess up, and want to have another crack at the MCAT for this upcoming admission cycle how would I do it? How would you do it?

How about:
Ask a friend to book an MCAT date in September, then when I receive my scores in June, and they are not good enough, then have the friend give up the September date, and I sign up for it? The friend would lose 50% of the cost (which I pay back). Does this seem like a safe idea? Is there another way of going at it that isn't as risky as sitting at my computer non-stop from June-July onwards, hoping another person will give up their date?

September dates last year were open until the beginning of august, so if you took in June then you would have enough time to sign up for it again. But you should plan to take it once and only once even if you have to push the date back.

Hope this helps,

You know, this isn't a bad idea. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Hey. S'up Mister T. How's things?

Glad I could help out, but it will cost ~$150 if you score well on the first hit, and have to forfeit the later test date, which isn't so bad a compromise right?
Anyways, run it in your mind that you must study hard enough to score a 13P/14V:scared::scared::scared:/13B/R-WS :scared::scared::scared: (the insanity) the first go.
You'll also lose ~$150 if you do badly and have to re-write (+registering a subsequent time).
Goodluck on your studying. 👍👍👍

If you're trying to figure out how to have a second test date available and it's still 3 months before your first exam, then IMO you have a horribly negative attitude. Confidence is a large factor in the MCAT - go into it saying this is the only time you will take it because you're going to do your best, period. Knowing you have a backup date, even subconsciously, could reduce your drive to kill it. The pressure of having to do well will probably make you perform better (hopefully anyway, otherwise being a doctor might prove difficult). Until you get your score back, I wouldn't even think about taking it again.

I agree.

just curious....how exactly does your "friend" give you their date? Do they drop it at the same time you would register for it? or do you contact aamc?

Have you ever dropped or added a class in college? It probably works the same way
