MCAT decision! Please help

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Taking it late and getting a good score is better than taking it early and getting a bad score. Take it when you're ready to take it.

Submit and verify without MCAT scores and let the MCAT score come in.

Good luck.

So the 2015 MCAT initially had 2 test dates. April and May. I originally planned on taking it in May. The registration opened up on the 11th, but I had to wait a couple days until I got paid to register. Turns out the May test filled up throughout the nation within 24 hours. Now I'm left with a tough decision. Risk taking it in April when I may not be 100% ready for a 1 shot major life changing test, or take it in June when it may wreck my application by being too late? My advisor has said this:

So, that leaves students with the April or June test dates. I would recommend taking the test when you feel is best for you. If you feel June is best then take it in June. We have heard from a few Texas medical schools and they state the same thing. They have stated that they will need to adjust their schedules to accommodate for the issue as well.

So it sounds like taking it in June is not deleterious, but I just don't know how much credit to give that idea. I can't imagine wasting the last 3 years of my life on a failed app cycle simply because I took the MCAT 4 weeks late. Should I be worried about taking it in June?

The MCAT score does not hold up getting your AAMC application and transcripts processed. You can put in the AAMC application with just one school, and get everything processed and verified. Once you get your MCAT back, you can add other schools immediately. If AAMC finalizes the first batch at the end of June, you would only be 2 weeks or so late for a mid July MCAT score release. You should have a few different school lists set up and ready to go, depending on the range of the MCAT score. This is doable, but you would have to prewrite your secondaries so that you can turn them around immediately when you finalize your school list. Good luck.
