I know the MCAT essay section is largely irrelevant, but does getting the highest score of "T" mean anything significant?

Well, I would think that an M to a T would mean a little bit. Maybe nothing that would tip the scales but I can't imagine it having absolutely no bearing on the viewer's mood. I'd personally just be proud of myself if I got a T but I wouldn't invest any effort into getting it.

You answered your own question.

J, K, L range might raise some questions, but anything beyond that just shows you can follow directions and write a 1/2 way decent essay in a half hour.

The general consensus seems to be that the writing section has very minimal impact and is largely disregarded, as one's writing score shows basically no correlation with future performance in medical school and is a terrible way to gauge your actual writing ability (I got a "T" myself, so I wish it were otherwise, but oh well....)

If you got a T, good for you. It looks very good. But it won't get you any more interviews than a P/Q would have.

As I recall, the data generally indicates your gut feeling is wrong. Perhaps, ≤M might bring some questions to their minds, but the graph for acceptances (Y) vs writing score (X) looks something like this:

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

vs for every other subsection it looks more like an exponential curved graph

Means you can structure a well supported essay in a timed manner.

Tells nothing about being a good writer.

Here, have a cookie. 🙂

I got an O and was personally upset that I didn't properly demonstrate my writing skills, but they can see those skills in my PS and secondaries. Same with your T.

I got an O and know why... I was kicking myself in the BS section cause I realized what I did during my break and was like FML.

It means you are able to follow directions.
