Not very clear on this;

Say I took the MCAT Sept 07- is it valid if I apply summer 10' , but i am matriculating in 11'?

If you have a good answer please help me out. really dont want to take this thing again.

I think it depends on the school for how long it is valid. I know my score will be 3 years and a few months old when I matriculate, but I also emailed all the schools I was thinking of applying to and asked if it would be valid.

Do this. Also, if you want to totally have no questions about that - take the damn thing again and do even better.

I took my first MCAT in August of 2004. Then, after a research-based MS degree, I had to take it again in order to apply for the entering class of 2008 (it expired). Lucky for me, I went from a 30Q to a 31Q 🙂

It's only good for 3 application cycles (I think you could have applied for the 2008 class even with a 9/07 MCAT).

I couldn't find a single school that would take it for the 2008 cycle.

Correct. The interpretation of the three year rule is up to individual schools, with some schools counting from the date of application and some schools counting from the date of matriculation.

The MSAR has a pretty good breakdown of these dates. For the few schools that are unclear, their websites offer good advice, and contacting the schools with your exact dates is a good idea too.

For me, my Jan 2007 scores are accepted at most schools since most consider the date of application, rather than the date of matriculation.
