Hi everyone,
I've looked through the website and haven't been able to find a good answer. I took the MCAT in Aug 2009. I want to know if I would be able to use it to apply in June 2012 for the 2012-2013 application cycle. I know it usually expires after 3 years, but if I apply using it before those 3 years are up is it still valid? This timeline is a bit confusing.

Thanks!

In general, you have to take the MCAT within 3 years of the date of desired matriculation. For you that would be 2013, so a 2009 MCAT would be too old. i.e. (from VCU SOM website): "Students applying for the entering Class of 2012 are expected to have taken the MCAT in 2011, 2010 or 2009"...so you could imagine what that would state for Class of 2013...

There are exceptions though so if you're still not sure, I would call the admissions office of some of the schools you are interested in and ask...or check their website...some of them say exactly what year your MCAT can be from...like VCU

It differs from school to school. I was in the same situation and ended up retaking the MCAT as some of the schools I wanted to apply to only accepted scores within 2 years (April!) of matriculation.
