MCAT for Pod School

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Will the MCAT become the standard test for podiatric medical school?

It has been for years. I'm not sure when they started accepting the DAT, but it wasn't accepted when I matriculated in the mid 1990's, I don't think. I've been wrong before though.

The CPME doesnt have the authority to mandate a test. It is up to the individual schools. As you can tell from these forums, a few unnamed schools have carved out quite a niche by accepting the DAT. I don't see any reason they would change.

Do you know why they started accepting the DAT to begin with? I'm curious.

I doubt this, honestly. A person in the know told me 2 years ago that only 3 or the 8 (at the time) schools truly only took the MCAT. I know a few schools have changed up some people/policies, but still...

No idea, but I am sure it coincided with the very small classes of 2010-11. This whole applicant/ residency shortage/overage is cyclical.

Nice, have not seen that one before.
