Hey guys,

I'd like to know if rewriting the MCAT in September for this year will negatively affect my interview chances.

I missed out this year (I believe) because I got my applications in right before deadlines to apply.

As soon as it opens for 2016 admission, I'm going to have my applications submitted.

I'm a Canadian student and have a 31 MCAT & cGPA/sGPA that are both 3.9+.

Thanks in advance

September is too late. If you are planning on applying again during the 15-16 cycle, you should be scheduling your MCAT no later than June or July. At that, only consider retaking the test if you are consistently scoring in the high 30s, since you need a significant score increase to not make your application worse.

Thanks for the response. But wouldn't any score increase make my application better? I was planning on scoring 35+ on the old practice tests before writing. (I realize that the new test is scored differently)

No, scoring just a few points better doesn't show real improvement, there would be a few point wobble if you retook the exam within the same month just due to luck/chance. The reason I said you should aim to be scoring in the high 30s is because most people will see a slight drop in their score when they compare practice to reality (nerves are often to blame) so you want to be practicing at a high level.
