How exactly does the process of adding your MCAT to your primary work?

If I took the MCAT in early May, should I wait until receiving my score in the first week of June or should I go ahead and submit my primary on June 1 and later add the MCAT? (if im allowed to do this)

Another question. If I took the MCAT and got a score below expetation and submitted it with my primary, will I be able to add a new retaken MCAT score to my app post-submission?

Will any of these hurt my chances if I submit the AMCAS without the MCAT initially (or a bad score) and later add in a MCAT after submission (or after retaken)?

What would be alternate steps recommended for someone who is taking the MCAT in early May and wants to submit the AMCAS the earliest day possible?

Submit your app when it's ready to be submitted. AAMC automatically updates your app with any MCATs you have taken or registered for.

So if I submit on the first possible day still awaiting my MCAT score but finished everything else, I will be judged the same as those who already submitted their app with MCAT already included?

I was under the assumption schools wouldn't consider you until your application was complete (including your score being uploaded) ?

I would think you would be judged differently, unless there is some sort of queue of apps and you simply hold a spot ahead of everyone until your scores come in?

Schools (for the most part) won't consider your application until it is complete (secondary included). With that said, if they see there is an additional MCAT date on your AMCAS, they will wait to review it.

Your application will be verified in the order submitted (if that is what OP meant to ask). As far as evaluation of the application by an adcom goes, it should not matter if you submitted it before your MCAT score was available or after it was. If @vanillabear55 considers the time at which an application is evaluated as a criteria of how an application is judged, then yes every single application will be "judge" differently.

Will schools care if you submitted your AMCAS before your MCAT score was available? No.

Ok, because I submitted/was verified and am taking the MCAT soon. I was planning on waiting until I got my scores to add the remainder of my schools, but if there was some sort of advantage to doing it now I wanted to know haha 🙂

There is no advantage. In fact, if you haven't taken it yet, I would wait until you got your scores back to add the remainder of your schools.

If you're not sure how you will do on your MCAT, you should verify your application with a throwaway school (one you don't plan on applying to). This way, in case you don't end up doing well on your MCAT, and decide to apply next cycle instead, you will not be considered a "re-applicant" at any school you wish to actually apply.

There ARE some schools that send out secondaries indiscriminately, even if your MCAT score isn't in yet. So there's conceivably a slight advantage to finishing those secondaries earlier.

You could just get the essay prompts from SDN, you won't be complete without the MCAT score regardless of when you submit the secondary.
