Just took my first practice test from Princeton Review: 493 😵

Taking the MCAT May 24th. Should I take a practice every week, and progressively even more frequently.
-A big issue for me was timing, I ran out of time in almost all the sections and had to randomly click.

Don't worry about the first test! My score was dramatically different from my first test to my actual MCAT. I think when thinking about frequency of practice tests you want to weigh using that time for tests vs. using that time to learn/review more material. I can only speak from my own experience, but I took practice tests every few weeks while I was still doing my first review of the material, and then as I started really trying to retain information I took them more often (the last 4 weeks before my test).

I would also say once you get closer to the date - the review of your practice tests is where you start to really improve. And that review should take about as much time as the test itself (I've heard even longer) if you're really making sure you review the concepts/making a compilation of the things you struggled with.

Best of luck! Progress can be slow but it will come 🙂

Thanks I hope so!

Hey, how did you do on the AAMC FLs?

This is my fear about doing practice exams too early (the OP did this over ten weeks before their test date). I took the unscored AAMC exam recently (twelve weeks before my test date) to get exposed to their type of questions. This was at the advice of people I trust, including many here at SDN. While I'm glad I did that, I got unnerved by my scores (if you can trust the scale floating around reddit.) The positive thing about taking a test early and not doing as well is that you can modify your study plan, or reaffirm it as the case may be. I felt well prepared for C/P and B/B (and did my best there), so I'm an even stronger believer in using TBR passages to prepare for those sections. But I felt lost in P/S, which made me doubt my current plan (using TPR exclusively.) I'm sure it comes down to needing more exposure and hopefully TPR provides that, but I will be adding something else to my arsenal. CARS has always troubled me and this was no different. I'm using EK and TPR and really like them both, but the AAMC passages felt a little different. I'm hoping the AAMC SB and QP will fill the gaps.

The AAMC FLs went very well for C/P and B/B. But CARS and behavior was an issue for me. I focused on the AAMC section banks and q banks, that made the difference! U need to do those, they teach you how to approach the passages.
