Have any of you been asked about your MCAT preparations during an interview? In a few of my interviews, I was asked whether I took a formal course or prepared on my own.

It's not a super odd question, but I was suprised by the number of times that it came up.

Were any of you asked about your MCAT preparation during interviews? Any ideas why ADCOM's would ask?

I wasn't asked in an interview, but I was asked on a secondary. I think they're trying to gauge how you will prepare for Step 1.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have a high MCAT? Or low MCAT? Maybe they're impressed by your score and were wondering how you achieved it 🙂. Or on the flip side, maybe they were wondering why you got a lower score?

I was asked about it at both UCSD and Vanderbilt (at the diversity office only). Not sure why either but it didn't seem odd to me, and I have an average score so I didn't give it much thought.

I had an interviewer ask this. He said something to the effect of, "You really knocked the MCAT out of the park. Did you take a review course?"

I explained, "Yes, I took a class. A friend and I also started studying..."

But he cut me off and said, "Oh, well, that explains it then" and moved on, like I only got a good score because I had taken this class. It was a little off-putting, to be honest.
