Alrighty so im studying for the mcat and ill be honest i havent taken physics 2 yet but i have taken phys1. Will i be okay with just taking phys 1 or is phys 2 a must? i have heard different people saying that the majority if not all of the mcat based questions in regards to physics is on taught in phys1.

It depends what they teach you in your physics 1...I felt there was a decent amount of optics and magnetism on a lot of my practice tests and even the real thing and I didn't learn that until the end of my physics classes. But I also feel what is covered in those topics are pretty easy to learn if you just watch a good youtube video on them...

To be honest I didn't have any physics completed before I took my MCAT and my physical science section was my highest score.... I was enrolled in physics 1 when I took it. Just be able to grasp concepts...

you can learn all the necessary material from review books. I took my MCAT right after finishing physics 2.

If you're looking to just get an 8 or so, Physics II is not required: self learning is ok. But if your aim is higher (10-15), it might be prudent to take the course first. It also really depends on how difficult the physics section that day. From speaking with 9-10 pre-meds who have taken the MCAT, they say the harder the section is, the better your overall score is (unless you're one of those brilliant ones who can just transcend physics).

I just took it last week. I have only had physics I. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit from physics II on mine, but I don't know how I did yet. I feel like I did OK.

Taking any of the classes is less important than studying something like Examkrackers. Your professors aren't teaching you the MCAT subject, they're just teaching the subject. Always good to read up from a book written specifically for MCAT help.

wonderful responses thanks, so i am currently reading up in the kap mcat book. Would you all recommend reading or reviewing any others? as well i have managed to get a hold of a couple of books that are mostly all practice tests(2 in each book, have 3 books). its becoming alot harder to study this semester than what i thought. between the classes im taking and being a SI leader for organic my time is always tied up it seems like. this summer will be a for sure busy studying summer for the mcat i have a feeling. Also i was wondering about the classes that people are taking. i hear its all kinda BS, that on average a person that studies on their own ends up doing just about the same as someone that shells out that 1500 for the class. any personal experiences? thanks again everyone.

I fully and completely recommend Examkrackers, and absolutely ignoring all others.

It's very concise, well-written, with all pertinent information and no extra crap that's unnecessary.

It's less bogged down than the Kaplan and many others, and it explains everything you need to know and, almost as importantly, what you can ignore.

Hadn't taken sciences in 2 years, just studied with examkrackers for 3 months off and on before MCAT, wound up with a 31.

Good books. 3 thumbs up.

Agreed with above. You are not studying for physics, ochem...after all, you are studying for the MCAT. The EK package tells exactly what you need to know, and comes with exam tips and tricks. Very well written book.

does anyone have the EK books they would like to sell? prefer the 7th ed i believe is the up to date one.
