Hi Guys -

So I'm going to take the August MCAT - but ran into a small snag while registering.

I completed my Bachelor's at the University of Washington, but my pre-medical prereqs at UCSD. I could probably get an advisor at UW, but not at UCSD.

The MCAT site is asking me which school will provide my letters of evaluation. I have professors that willing to write me letters at UCSD, but I know I don't have a letter service available to me as an extension student. (I'm not allowed to have a pre-med advisor at UCSD.)

Would you know where I should release my MCAT scores to? Does it matter which school I put down?

I didn't release my scores to any school. I was too far out of school for them to care... I think it only matters if you're using a pre-med committee at one of the schools. Those committees like to see your MCATs when they compile that committee letter to go with your LORs. So, no penalty if you don't release to a school... and be sure to release to a school if you are using them as your pre-med committee/advisor.

Hey SanDiegan! I am from both places, seattle and san diego. I am a non trad also, I only released to the school that gave my degree, just to bypass the screen. same as you, I didn't have a pre med advisor and too far out for committee letter. make sure you attach a letter on your app, just 1-2 sentences, why you don't have a letter and who will be writing your individual letters and their position: professor, supervisor...etc. without the committee letter your app could be considered incomplete and held up on someone's desk for 5 months......another lesson learned

Hello Chopstick! Nice to meet you - congrats on getting in. Thanks for the tips - I'll just put UW down for now. But did you really find that your app was held up because you didn't have a committe letter? is a committee letter usually expected?
