Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forums and had a few questions about the application process. Well I took my MCAT last year and my score is decent, but I would like to retake it to see if I can get my score any higher. The thing I am afraid of is if my score drops. So I know that your MCAT scores need to be released from AAMC to AACOMAS in order for osteopathic schools to be able to see your scores.

So if I were to release my scores now and then retake the MCAT, if my score drops will AACOMAS be able to see my new score if I do not resend them after my new score has been updated?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Jamie

This is the second post asking this in the last couple weeks.

You need to send all your scores. It would be unethical not to send the new score in, even if it dropped. If you got away with it, you could always be found out and have your acceptance revoked.

I think it's unfair to other students to think this would be ok. We all have to decide if it's worth the gamble to retake. I could possibly do better on a retake since I was doing better on practice tests. They already have my first score, so perhaps I could get away with it if my score dropped and I kept it secret, but I would be really worried the whole time about being found out. It's just not worth the stress.

Your entire test history is released. You do not get to cherry-pick which scores to release.

good luck.

I think he/she means that if they've already released and don't go back to re-release is that ok.

Maybe I misunderstood how it works. If you have released once, do they automatically send an update once you retake? I thought you'd have to manually go in and request it again, but if it automatically updates that would certainly safeguard against people trying to hide retakes.

I am also wondering how this works. Does anyone else know for sure?

If you have ALREADY submitted your MCAT scores to AACOMAS and were verified, secondaries completed and marked complete for review at schools, THEN if you do receive new scores do you have to resubmit them to AACOMAS?

Obviously, the hope is that one do better on a retake, but if that's not the case, then what happens? I have not seen anything on a requirement to submit new scores.

I'm looking for more solid info than anecdotal unfairisms as posted above (nothing personal, just want to know what the facts are, if anyone knows).
