Here are my stats...

3.5 cgpa/3.3 sgpa/27 MCAT/non-trad with great EC's and a very unique (pro surfer) life story.

Score was a bit below my average of 30...I probably missed 3 freaking questions and dropped 3 freaking points...but anyways, whats done is done. Do I schedule a retake or will somewhere not named liberty or WCU accept me?

Don't kill yourself, be confident. If you have great ECs and good LORs with some shadowing, you will definitely get in. Telling you by experience both my GPA and MCAT is way lower than you and I got in because of good ECs, great shadowing, and awesome LORs. Good luck.

Assuming your breakdown isn't too crazy you should apply as is and check last years threads as to which schools give you the best chance of success...ie MCAT heavy or regional bias.

Nah, your stats are perfectly fine. As long as no section is below 6 you will get plenty of interviews. Good luck!

You're fine for any DO program, including mine, the Touros, and CCOM. No need for retakes. Now go enjoy the summer!

Thanks Goro.

The programs you listed, are they considered better DO schools...as in, I likely won't be relegated to attending a Pikeville-caliber school?

Touros are fine, there is a little hesitation on Touro CA from some people, because of complications in rotations. CCOM is arguably one of the best DO schools in the country and stands shoulder to shoulder with the other MD schools in Chicago, competition is stiff though...
And Pikeville is actually not a bad school, but the location for many people is not ideal, which is why their scores are a little lower, they attract less people. But I get what you are saying, you dont want to just go to some Joe shmo school.... I would suggest (as I am sure Goro would confirm), to cast a wide net. Apply to a few of the top dogs such as CCOM, but definitely apply to some of the "lower tier" (aka newer or less reputable) DO schools, if you want more of a guarantee of acceptance. The GPA and MCAT is average for average DO schools. That means you are a the 50% chance mark. You are actually below the averages for some of the higher tier schools. Apply to a wide range of schools and you should receive some love.

Take it from someone who retook a 27, don't retake. That score and gpa combo is good enough

Scores are good enough for DO, but the acceptance rates for those stats for MD are not very promising unless you're URM.

Agree with Saucy, but recommend OP inquire into the TUCOM-specific threads to get the latest scoop on what's going on at TUCOM. I've learned from bitter experience with my own school that overheated imaginations and obsolete data about schools are hard to remove from the minds of pre-meds.

But to reiterate, OP need not apply only to the newest schools (although I have a high opinion of MUCOM!)

Ive really liked what I've heard about mucom. ...will be applying there.

That said Indiana may be a bit of a culture shock..touro ca and western are definitely top two. Ccom also just because I hear it's one of the best.

Watch that tuition at CCOM though... that price tag is no joke. It may be one of the best but that tuition has caused me to remove it from my list.

Do you mind sharing your EC's? Also, which schools did you get into? I see that you chose LMU.

Sure, RN for over 3 years, volunteer for a pregnancy center more than 450 hours, volunteer for my mosque for more than 400 hours, shadowed 4 docs including a DO (Family practice, pediatrician, nephrologist, and Family practice DO) each for 10 hour with strong LORs. Two LORs from my biology professors and a LOR from my OB nursing professor. I also wrote about a pet owner of 4 parakeets for more than 2 years and a father of 3 (oldest one is 10 years old). I was also accepted by WVSOM, and refused interview for Pikeville.
