Can anyone clarify for me what the changes were in terms of score reporting? I read the info off of the aamc website, but my poor brain cannot make heads or tails out of what they were saying. Please let me know if I understand it correctly:

1) all schools that participate in amcas will automatically receive scores and test dates of MCAT taken from 2003 on.

2) schools that do not participate in amcas will also receive the scores and test dates of MCAT taken from 2003 on, and we do NOT need to tell amcas to send scores to them. (I remember from the last time I took the MCAT the you were given 6 free reports...but you had to tell which schools to send the reports to. do we no longer have to do this?)

3) mcat scores taken 2002 or before will NOT be reported. only the test dates will. in order to report the scores, you need to let amcas know. how? when?

Thank you.

Well, from now on, we can't withhold our scores any more. As long as we take the MCAT, the score will be automatically released to whatever school we apply to, no matter amcas or non-amcas.

I had to read their notice many times to finally understand what they tried to say.

Honestly, I don't quite like the new rule. We've lost the chance of keeping a bad score to ourselves. 🙁
