For the past few days i have started developing this thing where whenever i even think about my mcat scores coming up my heart rate immediately increases and its almost like an anxiety attack i think. Do i have to check my scores? A lot of my secondaries are in already anyways? So would it be logical not to check my scores at all? And just see how i do in the application cycle? I am just sooo scared, i dont know what i will do if i managed to mess up yet again 🙁.

I know how you feel. It was my second time taking it and I'm not looking forward to checking it. I was definitely nervous when I checked it the first time. I might wait until I get an interview offer (I recently submitted my secondaries) and then check it. I am sure that everyone feels this way, but having to wait 30 days is absurd.

The only thing I would say is that you may still be able to retake in time if you didn't perform as expected. Checking your scores would at least give you that option, though it may not be a viable one for you. A lot of people have their significant other or friend check.

Anxiety attack just from THINKING about the MCAT?

Are you sure this profession is for you?

Well I see your point but at the same time there might not be a profession if you don't do as well as you need to. Yes you could retake but there's not guarantee you'd do better.

I think Sn2ed is right about this though, when your scores come out curiosity/need for closure will get the best of you. It's already said and done, just worry about what your reaction will be and what you're going to do about it (good or bad score).

Do what I did and go on vacation to a far away country. I completely forgot about my MCAT until a day before marks were supposed to come out.

Yes you have to check. If you did terribly, you should probably want to know so that you're not holding onto false hope with your applications.

Do what I did- put a paper over the screen and log into the score system. Slowly pull away the paper to the left. Then, expose the right number of your total score. 😱 That way you can predict the more important left number (assuming you scored in the double digits).

That way, you don't have to take it in all at once. Remember, you are going to have to get over your irrational anxiety sooner rather than later with this career choice.

You should check your score, you're not the only one who has an anxiety attack about their scores. I know I did, who knows, maybe be you did better than you thought.

And deep down, I think it not so much the bad score you're worried about, it is the thought of the extra studying and the taking the test again (if you do poorly) that worries you.

Yeah, I would not do this...ever...for any exam. It's just going to create more anxiety.

Man up and see your score in one glance.

Dude, just reading this gave me anxiety and I haven't even taken the MCAT. Hang in there, January MCAT takers! 👍

Make a plan to check it in the company of some SUPPORTIVE friends, or one of these guys: http://m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/ That MCAT can feel like, or actually be, such a big deal that extra support is often needed at various moments.

(I saw that you're banned. I figure that you still might check back here for replies.)
