Hi all,

I have a question relating to the timing of taking the MCAT.

Right now I am scheduled to take the MCAT on April 9. I have been studying and it is definitely doable (I am trying Sn2ed's plan), but I'm a little worried that covering all the material before that date might be difficult.

I have been thinking of postponing it a month, but the next MCAT in my city is not until May 20. The scores for the May 20 MCAT are released on June 21. I have been thinking that I would like to submit my AMCAS as soon as possible after it opens, so that I have a better chance (since the admissions are rolling), as early as the first week of June if possible. I've also read that it's good to have your MCAT done by the time you submit. Would the May 20 MCAT would be too late?

Any feedback much appreciated.

May 20 would work. Write your personal statement, get all the LORs in, and submit as soon as you can. Verification times during the first couple of weeks are no more than a week. By the time you are done with all of that, youll get your mcat score, and most schools dont even begin interviewing until August anyways, but it is nice to have everything done early.

you can submit it as soon as you want and it will get verified without your MCAT. It is totally fine if your MCAT is in at that time. Most schools would not have even released secondaries. This year school started sending out secondaries on june 25 so you cool

Well AMCAS does not transmit your verified primary to ANY medical school till late June. Thus, if you got your MCAT scores on June 20th, you would not be late AT ALL. You would be in the earliest/first group of apps sent to the med schools.
