I have been doing solid in the BS and PS sections of the AAMC's (12+ on each), but I have been averaging a 9 on VR. I took AAMC 8 the other day and got a 7. I have found that I generally do okay on ~5 of the passages (miss about one question per passage), but I miss more than half on the other two. The bad two passages are not necessarily always at the end, which makes me think time is not my problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice? Thanks!

baltimoreman,

Most people have this issue, if not everyone. The thing is to work on your technique. Take some time and just read all the threads on verbal practicing and how to approach the passage. My advice, see where you're going wrong. What type of questions are you getting wrong? Is it inference questions, main idea, and so on. From there, see why you're getting it wrong. Something that has worked for me is doing a passage then marking it. For what you get wrong, don't mark the correct answer. Later on, go back to it and now see if you can pick the right answer. After you pick it, then read the explanation as to why it was wrong. This way, you see how your thought process is. I did not come up with this process, i actually picked it up just reading other threads. As for verbal, you just have to will yourself to read dense, opinionated articles and see if you understand the author's logic and POV. While you're reading try to picture what this author looks like and i think it'll make it a tad easier to answer questions. Good luck.
