Hello yall, I wonder how long it'll take for the MCAT score to come out.
Bcos i'm plannin to apply for the next cycle and i haven't take my mcat yet..... and i'm not sure when to take the mcat, April or May?

thx in advance

It takes about one month. For example, I took my mcat on Aug 22, and the score is slated for release on Sept 22 or 23. I don't think it matters TOO much as to whether you take the mcat on April or May because either way, you will find out your score very early on in the application cycle. However, the earlier you take it, the more opportunities in the year you have remaining to re-take it. Just make sure you are ready.

if you are still in school, i suggest taking in May. You can study during the semester and you will also have a few weeks after the semester is over (this is assuming you are on a semester system) to dedciate to MCAT studying. This is what i did and it worked out well.

If you arent going to school and are already working, then it may work better for you to take it in april, but that is of course your call to make.

I took the april test. Found out my score in may. I spent june wondering if I wanted to put the time into retaking. And I decided to take the test in july.

I think the extra month I had (because I took it in april) allowed me to reflect a bit more.

Good luck.

that what i thought at first (taking in May so i have more time to study after my finals) but since the aacoms opens at June, and i really want to get everything in asap.... that's why i'm leaning more towards the april mcat now.

and oh yess my school does operate on semester system

there is no point rushing your MCAT in april, you dont gain anything. You can still complete and submit your AACOMAS by June and be in line for verification while waiting for your scores. Taking in april will accomplish nothing.

It took AACOMAS about 4 weeks to verifiy THE FIRST people who submitted their apps. So, say you take the MCAT in may, you submit your AACOAMS in first week of june, your verification and MCAT scores will be happening at around the same time.

The bottom line is you are still completing your app by June and are still really really really early. I took May 27th MCAT, submitted AACOMAS June 11th, got scores back June 26th, verified by July 16th, and had 4 DO interview invites by August (out of 5 complete DO applications). Don't rush if you dont have to.

When you finish filling out your AACOMAS application (personal statement, work, volunteer, other ECs, course grades, general info, etc.) then you submit your application to AACOMAS. Once this is done, AACOMAS has to go through your app and make sure you entereed in everything correctly. For example, you have to put in all of your courses and all of your grades. When they get your official transcript(s), they will check to make sure everything was done correctly. You also have to classify your courses in different categories such as "science," "other science," "behavioral," etc. They will check to make sure you classified everything correctly as well. If you didnt, they will change it. When you "verified" that means that AACOMAS finished looking through your app and has okayed it to be sent to the schools. It usually takes between 4-6 weeks. Obviously, it will take longer the later you submit your app.

hope that helps. good luck

and is it true that you can submit a primary aacomas app without mcat score (I plan to get my score back around July/Aug)? if it's true how far can you go?

It takes FOR.EV.ER.

Or at least it feels like every second. 🙁

okay, i think the better question i should ask is that:

"Can i still submit and verify my aacomas without a mcat score?"

my scores have been delayed for every mcat i have taken...so i would say 1 month and 1.5 weeks
