I'm 3 or 4 years post graduation and when I took the MCAT in 2010 I scored a 29. Well I took the Kaplan diagnostic and scored a 480 with 39% right on the science assessment. Needless to say I've got a lot of work cut out for me. All I'm doing this quarter and summer is studying for the MCAT. I've enrolled in the Kaplan Anytime course.

Am I in over my head? Has anyone on the forum got back and taken the MCAT after being out of the sciences for a few years?

I've been out of the sciences for 2 years. Luckily, I majored in science, so it came back a bit easier for me. As long as you don't burn out, you'll (and everyone who studies for the MCAT) be fine. Find a passion for studying, what you study, or something that can keep you studying. If you can find that passion, you'll find your scores jump up tremendously.

479 here... 1 year out of college... 2 years since I took my last prereq. I feel you man.

I've been using Kaplan's Foundations of Biochemistry and I actually like it a lot. I don't know what it will do for my score, but it walks you through the chapters. Much like being in a lecture, but its solely geared towards the MCAT.

don't worry too much about the diagnostic. kaplann's diagnostics are seriously some of the hardest questions you will come by. they do it to rope you in to their program. nonetheless, i am using kaplan now and although the passage based questions are WAYYYY harder than aamc questions, the course has been really great!

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm also liking the Kaplan review so far. How do you feel about the assess part of Kaplan's strategy? Where they have you assess if your going to come back to the passage and assorted questions. It seems like this would be inefficient.

it seemed like a waste of time at first, but it's actually super helpful because it helps you with time management!
