can I survive the Bio section on the MCAT with (1) AP Bio credit, (2) THREE neuroscience classes (intro, behavior, neurobio), and (3) Biochem (1 semester)? ...will I be able to teach myself the rest in 3months of summer prep?

BTW, I'll have taken Orgo I&II.

Most likely, although you'll want to then focus on physiology during your content review. I'm a neuro major and I can say that those classes will let you breeze through any neuro passages or questions. Biochemistry is extremely helpful. Make sure you really brush up on the topics from AP Bio though!

thanks. which do you think would be more helpful for the mcat: biochem or physio?

Biochem gives you a look at a lot of the reactions that are going on in the body, details on all the macromolecules, where they go, why, how, etc.

Physiology gives you a look at systems biology. You look at the different organ systems and how they work together, its less focused on the minute details (structures of molecules and such) and is more about the overall picture of the human body.

They both have their pluses and minuses. Having taken AnP (taking Human physio with the same teacher next semester) and Biochem, I would choose physiology. Systems biology is a huge part of content review for BS, and if you've taken ochem, i dont think biochemistry will be that much more of a help.

BUMPPPPPP

Should I take a semester of physio (with lab) or a semester of biochem (no lab) the semester before summer (before mcat)?

(I'll have already taken orgo1+2)
