I was wondering what the MCAT requirements were for GPA boosting post-bacc programs? Presently I am a junior and due to a miserably low GPA i am definetly going to need to do a post-bacc program when I get out. The problem is that I have not taken really any classes towards the MCAT yet (bio, orgo, physics, chem, etc).

I know some programs require an MCAT or a GRE score (georgetown smp for one). However I can't see a way for me to take the nessasary courses and then take the MCAT soon enough for me to apply next fall. I would really prefer not to have a lag year between undergrad and post-bacc. So the question is, do most good, gpa boosting, post-bacc programs require the MCAT or GRE (which i would really prefer not to take)?

Yes these programs most definitely require either the mcat or gre. some programs (like loyola chicago ) only accept the mcat. I've spoken to many of the counselors from these schools (i.e. georgetown, finch, drexel) and the avg accepted mcat is typically at 25-26. i heard georgetown is even a 28. If you don't have an mcat score ready by the time you apply to these schools, i highly advise that you take the GRE so that the admissions can process your application immediately. hope this helps.

Hmm. When is the typical application deadline? Would the April MCAT of the year you wish to enroll be way to late? Going back to georgetown again i saw their process spans from Jan-Jun.

Yeah, taking the april mcat would be kind of too late b/c those scores won't be released until mid june, and by then the applications are due. That's why the admissions suggest that you take the GRE so that they could at least process your application. If you don't want to take the GRE, then notify the admissions that you are taking the april mcat and they will have to wait on your scores in june, but do note that your application will be considered later. So there is that risk. hope this helps.
