i had my interview on nov 6th and got my acceptance letter about a week and a half after. i am really excited to have gotten in. i dont think its still too late to apply, however they already had a lot of completed applications when i had my interview, but many ppl get waitlisted so i think you still have a pretty good chance of getting an interview. 🙂

Congradulation! I just sent my application on Dec 1st. I hope to hear back from them soon =)

I'm filled with tears of joy.

Just got my first acceptance from MCP-Worcester.

Congratulations on your acceptance to MCPHS!! If you don't mind me asking, what was your GPA, did you take any classes over, do you have pharmacy experience, when did you send in your application, and how long did they take to respond? I am applying next year and would really appreciate if you could answer any of the above questions?
THANKS SO MUCH!!🙂

hello everyone!

please bear with me, does anyone know if worcester requires the pcat? if not, do they prefer to see it anyway? or do they have absolutely no preference?

thanks a lot!

AtomicLuv,

MCPHS-Worcester does not require the PCATs.

I do not know whether they even look at it or not. You might want to e-mail an admissions counselor. You can get e-mail addresses from mcphs.edu, under "Contacts".

hi!
FIrst of all, Congratulations upon ur acceptance!

I was wondering if you ever needed to call/email the school to follow-up on the review of your apps, mine was complete for review nov 3rd, and I'm still waiting for them to call me in for an interview or any letter of some sort...

I hate waiting, i'd rather know right now whether it's an in or an out

Hey all- I'm a P1 right now so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
As far as application stuff, Once your app is complete its generally somewhere between two to three weeks before you'll here back from them (I think the app committee meets twice a month except for December with the holiday).
As far as completing classes you have until just before school starts to complete them, but as long as its only 1-2 classes. Also, if you are going to complete classes in the summer, you have to send in completion plans with proof of enrollment in the class, but its not that big of a deal.
with PCAT- I think they look at it as they mentioned my score during my interview, but its definetly not necessary.
Ok- well if you have anymore questions feel free to shoot me a line-

Good luck!
astevens

Thanks greatdeals 225.
I did not call or e-mail the school regarding my status.

If I were you, I would just wait it out a bit more. I know..the waiting game sucks! The later it gets in the cycle, the more applications they receieve.

I also agree with astevens in that they soon may be taking a break from reviewing admissions due to the holiday season.I say wait it out until early Jan and call or e-mail if you have not heard from them yet.

Good luck! 🙂

WOW.... after I just posted that reply, I got a letter from MCp worcester asking me for an interview!!! i just need to call them to set it up.. I'm SOOOO nervous.. don't know what to wear, don't know where to park, don't know what questions to expect.... gosh.. anyone can calm me down with tips?

I applied on the day applications were due. Not that I'd recommend it, since it made my life unnecessarily stressful. But I was waitlisted by around May (because I applied so late) and got accepted at the beginning of the summer. I'm a P1 now.

Just wanted to let you know that it's definitely possible to be pulled off that list. Good luck.:luck:

Synthesis if you don't mind answering, what was your GPA, pharm experience, and extracurricular activities like when you applied to MCPHS-Worcester? Thanks!! 🙂

Hey, out of curiosity, how did you manage to get an interview this fast when you just have sent in your application on december 1st as you mentioned in one of your posts? It seems most people have to wait at least a couple of weeks before receiving an interview invitation. I'm just about to finish the application and hope they respond that fast to me.

I called this morning at 8am california time, but no one picked up the phone. I left a message on kate's voicemail. She hasn't call back yet. When did you called? I will have another interview with Touro on the 19th, so I dont think it's a good idea for me to take the 17th for Worcester. But good luck with yours! Let me know how it goes. =)

Good luck everyone!

When you guys are saying "complete application," do you mean that all your letters of rec and transcripts are in?

OK. I finally scheduled my interview. I won't be there until the 23rd =(

yes, that means that everything they need from you (transcripts, TOEFL if need be, HS transcript, Application, Application Fee, LORs....) are in. once they get everything in, they can start reviewing your application once the adcoms meet together.

o, too bad we can't meet then, maybe we'll make it for the new students orientation!!!! If you think at it on the brighter side, you can have a few more days to get ready, and once i get my interview, be sure to find it under the interview section on SDN!

o, where are you coming from? once you arrive at Logan airport, there are many ways to get to Worcester.

1- you can always take the cab, but it will rip off your bank account as Worcester is almost 1.5 hours from Boston

2- you can always rent a zip car and drive your way to Worcester

3- you can take the Subway (blue line) from "Airport" to "South Station" on the red line then take either Peter Pan or Greyhound to Worcester, but you gotta check their bus schedules before hand.

4- or you can have someone else drive you (relatives, friends)...

Good luck! let me know if i can be any help. I personally live North of Boston so I'm going to drive to Worcester.

Does anyone know how MCP-Worcester compute grades for classes that were taken over. For example, If someone failed physics and then took it over to get an A, do they replace the F with the A or do they somehow average to get a new grade? Thx!!

They give you a copy of your grade records when you get an interview.
When I repeated microbiology, on my record, there is a "C" under attempt and an "A" under the grade. Looks like they replaced the my grade completely when calculating my GPA for MCPHS.

OMG, I am so happy to hear that they do not average the two grades and just replace it altogether, but I'm sure they'll ask an explanation for the bad grade. THX!!

Is the appliction online/ I clicked on the link 'grad application' and couldn't find the one for pharmacy...

You would fill out the undergraduate application, not grad.

For the LOR for this school, am I supposed to use the general rec form?

WOW congrats swanchick84, accepted to MCPHS and Western University!! Which school will you choose to attend for next year?👍

I'm going to Western. It's too cold in MA. Plus, Western is a 20 min. drive from my house.

Just in time too! My deposit for MCPHS had to be postmarked 12/13. I mailed it yesterday and canceled my check today. wheee!

The good thing is that MCPHS gives you a month from the interview date to turn in the deposit. Most CA schools only give 2 wks after the acceptance.

I applied mid to late November. Got an interview first week of December and an acceptance letter 3-4 days later. Good thing too since it is the only school I applied to.

Congrats amartins02, if you don't mind me asking what are your stats (overall GPA and science GPA) and any pharm exp or extacurricular activities. Also, you sent your application late Nov and already had an interview. Good Job, can you also specify some of the questions you were asked during your interview!! 👍

Hello, I am a new member here. I've read all your threads about MCP. I have an interview coming up on Jan 11th. I am flying from TX and Kate told me that I had to be there at 2:30pm. I am quite confused about the airport and the commuter trail directions. The school told me once I get off Logan, I have to get to South Station and take the Frammingham-Worcester route. but it seems like I have to go from Logan to South Station first. I am quite confused and scared as I am afraid I'll get lost at the airport and late for the interview and all the tragic goes with it... COuld anyone please please help me by providing a detailed explanation about going to MCP regarding: once I get off Logan, what to look for next to get to South Station? Then from South Station, which route would I choose? I can't afford teh taxi as it's 1.5 hours so it will be very expensive )-:... Thank you so much. By the way, is any of you guys have the same interview on Jan 11th? Thanks so much!

3.4 GPA, 3.6 Pre Pharm, BS in bio (focus on cell bio) and graduated Cum Laude. I do have some pharmacy experience and have done Big Brother Big Sister. I also have accelerated experience as I quit high school and completed 2 years in 1 and completed my BS in 3 years. I won't get into specifics about questions asked but it is a very comfortable interview and you shouldn't be nervous.

Have you scheduled your flight yet? Honestly, I don't know why everyone says go through Boston. Easiest way is to go to T.F. Green airport in Warwick, RI. It is near Providence, RI. That is right off of 95. So then take 95 North to 146 North and follow that most of the way. Then it's a minor detour to I-290 east and a few street turns and you're there.

It's the same distance as Boston, which is 45 miles, but you get there faster because traffic is a lot less than Boston and there are no detours due to construction. Also, it is pretty much a straight shot on one highway. You can also get a rental at the airport for a day and get one with GPS and if you stay the night there is a hotel right near the airport, it's cheap, and you can give the car back the same day.

Here is the map

PM me if you need help

if you don't/aren't planning on driving, you should get off Logan airport.

Once there, look for the subway station. The "blue line" has a station "Airport" right at Logan. From there, you have to take the "inbound" or "westbound" direction to "Government Center" where you can switch to the 'inbound' directions to the green line. once there, you have to take it to "Park Street" and switch to the red line. There, "South Station" which is on the red line is only a couple stops away. It'll be much easier to walk, but since you are not familiar with Boston, you can just take the T.
if you go to www.mbta.com you can have a detailed map of the subway in Boston.

Once at South Station, it's like very big station with trains, buses, commuter rails, subway. You can ask people at the desks where you can grab the train to Worcester. I believe it's either Peter Pan Bus or Greyhound Bus. They are not cheap, but they'll get you there. I am not sure about the Commuter Rail, but if it runs to Worcester, then it'll definitely be cheaper than bus.

you can check www.peterpanbus.com or www.greyhoundbus.com for detailed info about their routes.

Good Luck!! i myself have an interview on the 17th. Let me know how yours went!

Actually once you get to south station, if you head up the stairs there is a ticket desk and you can buy yourself a six dollar commuter train ticket to worcester (which is the last stop on the train). Once you get to the train station, you will have to walk to the campus which is about three blocks from campus. Kate can give you really good directions from the station.
I flew in from OK last year for my interview and found it ok, but you want to check the train schedule (also on mbta under commuter rail) to make sure you will have enough time to get here. If you have to be here by 2:30 you will want a train that arrives by 2:15, which probably means you need to catch the 12:00 train (gets you in to worcester at 1:30 since it makes all the stops), which would mean to give you enough time in case you get lost/ delayed, your flight should arrive by 10:00am.
I flew in that day before last year to allow for flight delays. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet- you might consider that- there are lots of places to stay in worcester or boston that are reasonable.

anyway- hope this helps

Hi Thanks so much greatdeals225 and astevens for the help. I've already bought the flight ticket which arrives at Boston at 10:50am. That's the earliest flight I could find on all the travel websites. I've looked at the subway map on the mbta website and it looks exactly like you said about switching between the lines. This looks complicated to me quite. I've lived only in CO and TX so far and have never used the subway myself. I am quite scared this time. Is it possible that once I get off Logan, I just go outside and call a cab and ask it to take me to South Station? That way I could skip all the lines-switching. I suddenly feel so scared now....(seriously)... I hope to find someone that have the same inteview day to go with me...
How do you know if it's a red or green line? How do you know when to switch? Do they have a speaker on the train that shout out loud when they stop at a station?
Sure, I will definitely let you know how it goes when I get back. Thanks so much for your help.

And you've never travelled anywhere with a subway?? That seems so strange.....That's how I determine where to vacation and if a place is worth visiting, by their train/subway/light rail infrastructure.

First of all, RELAX!! it's not that scary. Each station is labeled based on its 'color' aka. the line it's in (red, blue, green).... the driver announces each station it will next stop at and again once it approaches the station. Also, the station is labeled in big letters once you arrive, and plus, you also see people standing at the station, so you know it arrived 😛
Also, once you arrive at a station where you can 'switch' subway lines, there is always a sign with an arrow that tells you which direction to go to take that train. You can always ask passengers there if you are not sure. I bet they got nothing to do on the train other than reading their newspapers... they can probably help you out.

You can always call a cab to take you to "South Station", at that time in the morning, traffic shouldn't be too bad, so your cab fare wouldn't be too bad either, hopefully.

If you have anymore questions, let me know.

hi greatdeal225. Thanks so much for your help. The reason i am scared is that I have a friend who got lost and missed her interview for MCP last year due to this train dilema (it's OK for her as she got in mercer and now is P2). I've searching the internet for the airport cab phone number. I guess there will be several of them. Do you know the number of these cab services? I want to know how much it costs me to drive a cab directly from Logan to Worcester. I know it'll be outrageous 🙁 but I'd rather eat Mc & cheese for a month than missing the interview. I think I'll go the way that once i got off Logan, I'll just go outside and take a cab and ask the sriver to take me to Subway South Station. Is that the right way to ask? Or I have to give him specific address? (which I don't know). By the way, are you in pharm school now? Since you are in boston and I'm totally blind about this, do you mind if we canc hat directly through like Yahoo? If so my screen name is safinphanle and I'd truely appreciate a lot. Thanks once more

Why not fly in the day before, stay in a hotel, then just train in for your interview the following morning? If you stay anywhere downtown in Boston, you''ll be just a few steps away a subway station that will get you to South Station in just a few minutes, or, for the truly paranoid, you can take a cab to the station for a few bucks. You won't have the stress of your luggage, and you'll be well-rested instead of fresh off a plane. Why travel all this way and not even take time to explore the city?

Just curious to know if anyone who is closer to MA, like NY has ever taken a train (amtrak) or bus (greyhound) directly to Worcester and made it on time for their Interview? If anyone did, was it worth it or is the sitting to long? I'm thinking it might be better because now instead of flying to boston and now having to find transportation to Worcester, the train or bus takes you directly to the town?! THX in advance🙂

Just curious to know if anyone who is closer to MA, like NY has ever taken a train (amtrak) or bus (greyhound) directly to Worcester and made it on time for their Interview? If anyone did, was it worth it or is the sitting to long? Amtrak would be a great choice because you can walk from the train station to school, but I personally wouldn't do it the day of the interview. Amtrak is notorious for running behind schedule, often by many hours. Even short trips, like NYC to Worcester can arrive several hours late. That is added stress you probably don't want to deal with. I would feel more comfortable with the bus, which I guess is also walking distance, now that I think about. Where in NY are you coming from? I go to NYC every few weeks and it's exactly a 3 hour drive, door to door. Even if you're coming from somewhere a little further away, it would still be totally doable the morning of the interview if you really didn't want to stay overnight. Even if you don't have a car, renting one would probably be cheaper than even the bus--it's $80 RT from here to NYC.

THX drugdealer for your reply. Sorry, I meant im coming from NJ. You're right about Amtrak and its delays. I don't have a car, and I heard they charge an arm and leg just to rent one for a couple of hours. So, you think greyhound would be better??
