I have an interview next week. How is their interview...like what kinds of question do they usually ask? Esp the essay ...is it really specific?
I heard MCPHS-boston is not that competitive to get in..or is it?
Also, is pharmacy experiences really important for their consideration?
Does any1 know their acceptance rate and how many transfer students do they usually accept?

THanks all!

hi, you can check out "interivew feedback " section...good luck.. :luck: (for 1s question)

for 2nd question (in blue), you can check it from Pharmcas website, usually school will list those infor there or the school's website or call them..

I have an interview next week too (2nd of 4 interview groups, Fri. the 24th) and was wondering a lot of the same q's - it's not a pharmcas school so it doesn't have info there, theres a little on http://www.mcphs.edu/MCPHSWeb/admiss/faq.html#b2 but I'm confused because it says 44% acceptance rate, which seems really really high. Also the interview feedbacks, even though they were posted under mcphs boston, were clearly referring to the worcester campus - those people said the interview was really easy and relaxed, anyone know if the Boston interview process is similar? Or anything else about mcphs-Boston?
good luck!

I already interviewed at MCPHS-Boston (Feb 10) and I came away with a really good impression of the school! The interview process is nothing to stress out about- honestly! First off, your interview group will be pretty small. They said they like to keep the groups small. You'll have about 10-12 applicants. They give you an introduction session explaining the history of the school and what it has to offer. Next, you will have to write an essay. You'll get specific instructions, but nothing too difficult- you read an article and reflect on it. They just want to see your writing style- if you can make coherent sentences, good grammar, and can follow directions. Then you are broken up into two groups- everyone in the first group will go off and interview with their assigned faculty member, while the second group just hangs out in a room. The two groups will then switch. Once everyone has interviewed with a faculty member, you will all go on a tour of the school. After the tour, the admissions office staff will inform you on how long it takes to hear back from the school and answer any specific questions you might have for them. This is pretty much it!

They never told us how many people they interview and what the acceptance rate was or anything like that. I did talk to P3 student there I know from a mutual friend, and she told me the number of transfers (people applying for the 3rd year/1st professional year) the school takes vary year by year. She said the range has been 50-80 students. In her class, she had about 80 transfer students.

The interview itself depends on the faculty member you get. My interview went pretty well. I just got asked the basic questions- why pharmacy, what areas of pharmacy are you interested in, do you have any pharmacy experience, why MCPHS, and there was one or two behavioral questions (if you were in this situation...). When I had talked to some of the other applicants, a few said there interview was tough. They were asked really specific questions- they didn't share what those questions were though.

In terms of how good of a school it is. I have a few friends at Harvard Med and dental program, and they all have told me that it has a really good reputation. It is the second oldest pharmacy school, so they obviously have to know what they are doing! The friend that I know that currently goes there said the Naplex pass rates for MCPHS is in the high 90%. Regarding the competitiveness- I think all pharmacy schools are competitive to get into it. I think since MCPHS is not part of pharmcas and it is a private school they get less applications.

Hope this helps a little. If anyone has any specific questions to ask me, feel free send a PM.
