MCPHS interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
you will be just fine!! make sure that you show interest to the interviewer about the school. Go to the website, depending on which campus you are going to, they have their unique things (pharmacy entrepreneurship track in worcester)... the interviewer will 80% ask you why you chose the school, make sure you are enthusiastic about it, ask questions based on his response. Remember, as a future pharmacist, communication is the key, and that's exactly what they want in you.

how hard to get into this school..i realy liked thier program and one of my friends told me about the school it self..what they look in students...GPA..experience..can you share some stats plz🙂

I went on my interview today...everything went really well. Definitely nothing to be worried about.

Well that's a relief 🙂 What did you do to prepare though?

I honestly did not do anything to prepare, because if you sound scripted they don't like that. I just answered the questions based on what I really felt and thought. At this point, if you can't answer on the spot why you want to go there for school, maybe it's not the best choice. They are very professional, so dress appropriately, act maturely, and ask questions.

Did they tell when you can expect an answer

Hi, does anyone know the best way to get to Worcester from the Boston airport? thanks I appreciate it 🙂

take the subway from the airport to South Station on the red line, then either take the bus (greyhound/peter pan .. forgot which one comes to worcester) to Union Station in worcester, it should be about $8, or take the commuter rail (purple line) to Union Station in worcester, Union station is about 10 minutes walk from school

WOW!! Congratulations!!! is this your first choice? or did you apply/waiting for other schools??

Congratulations! I had an interview last Friday and havent recieved anything yet. I hope I hear good news soon!!!!!! jlp193, what state do you live? (just wondering if you live in the east coast.. the letter came so fast!)

That means that it only took them a week to respond! Wow congratulations for being accepted!!! Thats awesome... I have my interview tomorrow, I getting very nervous.

I live in Hanover, MA. My interview was Thursday and I received a letter 6 days later. I have to send my official acceptance by the end of November... I definitely want to attend Worcester, but I'm still unsure about housing. If you guys get accepted are you going to live on-campus?

I live on campus and I definitely love it. I think it all depends what you make out of it. I have roomates who are P2, and P3, and it's really nice to get to talk to them, get advice and other things... We have a lot of people who live 2 blocks down main street, it's a bit cheaper than dorms... but you have to walk 5-10 minutes to school... it really sux in the winter/rain/snow.. I find that I get to know more residents vs commuters and it's easier to form your study group and your schedule is much more flexible when you are a resident than commuter, especially if they have workshop or those things like couple hours after classes end... as a commuter before, I never stayed at school long enough to attend those things... but as a resident, it's nice, you can use your time more efficiently.

How stressful is the program? My interviewer made me a little worried about failure rates and the amount of work that is continually given for three years. It sounded very intimidating!

it all depends (favorite quote from one of our professors) lol.. it depends on how you study, how much you normally need to study, how good is your memory (some people i know barely study and they do very well on exams.. must have photographic memory or sthg)... personally, I study day in and day out.. my only leisure time is food shopping time basically. We have some who go out to bars the night after the last exam of the week... some go home during the weekends all the time and seem to do just fine.. it all depends...there is definitely going to be a lot of work.. not so much as homework or presentations (at least not for fall), but for myself, I need to read the material ahead of time, and reread after class, typing up my own study guides... it all depends on how much work you think you will need to do for yourself besides class time in order to succeed. Everyone studies differently!

Jlp what exactly did you recieve in the mail. Was it a big brown envelope or a regular white one?

Just curious

I just finished my interview! I think it went pretty well, we'll see. Thanks everybody.

The interview was wonderful. I loved the school and I didn't feel nervous at all. I was interviewed by Michelle Matthews, who is a very nice professor. She walked me around the whole campus and introduced me to everyone (pharmacy students, librarian, most professors). The campus looks so new and renowated. Ok now the questions... I got there half an hour early at 1 (it was at 2 but I was told to come at 1:30 so that I couldhave time to write the essay). So I started the essay at 1... The essay gave you like 10 options to choose from. Specifically they asked, "If you could invite three people from histoty to your dinner who would they be? and why?" also "Describe any obsticle that you had to overcome in your life and what you learned from it", "The pharmacist profession was rated number one in honesty and something else, I forgot... but recently it had dropped to number two. Why do you think this is and what can be done in order to restore that?" Sorry I really don't remember any more... I had exactly 30 minutes to write it. I finished at 1:30 and had a half an hour to relax. Then at 2 I went back to the admissions office. One of the ladies walked me to the office of my interviewer. Ok some of the questions that she asked. "Why Pharmacy?" "Why MCPHS?" "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "What are you going to do if you are not accepted?" "What are your weaknesses?" "Why should we accept you over other students". You have to know some ethics as well because you are faced with situations that you have to know what the right thing would be. Afterwards she gave me a tour of the school. I very much enjoyed the visit overall. It was not stressful at all. It felt like one long conversation, as if she was your friend.

sorry for all miistakes I am just so tired (I just drove for 6 hours from Worcester). Only had 5 hours of sleep.

I went for my interview on Monday and I got the blue folder in the mail today telling me the good news that I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy! 🙂 I have an interview with LECOM in Erie in a few weeks and I am debating about going now but I think that I still may it will be interesting to comapre the two schools. Anyway I still am in shock over the quick response, the interviewer said 2-3 weeks but it was more like 2 days!! Pharmdream explained the interview process beautifully so I dont think i need to mention much more! Although the interviwer asked me very few questions, and allowed me to ask all the questions which I found to be interesting.. I think she only asked me a total of three questions, Why pharmacy, why MCPHS and how would you grade your writing capabilitites?... Luckily, I did a lot of research on the school and came prepared with about an hours worth of questions, which I think made a good impression on her.. anyways it was very stress free and just a professional conversation...good luck to the rest of you!!

Anyone here applied/going to apply to the Boston campus transfer program?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone applied to the Boston campus. I submitted my pharmCAS application on 10/30 and my supp on 11/1. I guess all the interviews so far are for people who applied to the Worcester campus?

Same here. Submitted my pharmCAS back in August, and still working on my supplemental form.

Are we in the right thread? Or there is a completely new thread for Boston campus? Thanks in advance.

How long do you guys have to pay the deposit?

I really liked the school when I went there.. So I will most likely go to MCPHS.
but I have another interview at Pacific University next week.. Since I already bought the tickets and also I want to see what other school looks like, I will go to have an interview with them.. I am also scheduled to have an interview at Loma Linda in two weeks.. but I think I am going to turn it down since it is a 4 year school.. I am so happy!

Congrats Lala. November 28th is the day you need to have the $750 deposit in by.

I guess i should apply to worcester since it's 3 years. =) so, one questions. Is psychology under human development? What will be under behavioral science? social science?

Where can I find this info if it's not on their school website. thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I hope it takes me less than two weeks to find out.

Yay, I have an interview at MCPHS-Worcester! I sent my application like a week and a half ago and heard back from them yesterday.

Interesting stat I read: Last year MCPHS-Worcester interviewed 282 people and out of them, 245 were accepted (that's about 86%). Take it with a grain of salt though. Obviously, the number of people interviewed will go up so the rate of acceptance will decline a bit, but this is reassuring news. They must really like your application to give you an interview. To all who will be/have been interviewed: awesome job getting that far! Good luck to everyone waiting!
