Hi guys!! I just got accepted into MCPHS Manchester.. Will be starting in fall.. Are any of you going to the manchester campus.. I wanted some information on housing?
Congratulations on your acceptance!

I don't know of anyone on this thread that is going - a few have talked about interviewing or choosing between Worcester and Manchester, but I don't think anyone who regularly posts is going.....

I'm sure if you look at some apartment sites or contact admissions they have a listing for the neighborhoods around the school.

Hi i have been accepted to manchester campus? So are u ready for a tough road ahead?

no problem. does anyone know when we do the background check? will they notify us? or do we have to click on "request background check" on pharmcas?

Hey guys, I emailed to ask Kath the same question too. I want to share her response with you guys so that you have an idea of what to expect in the next couple of months.

"Thank you for your message. You will not need to register for courses. In the first semester all students are block registered into their courses. You should receive some information in the upcoming months about completing your immunizations.

Once you complete your degree, you are welcome to have official copies of your transcripts directly to MCPHS University at the address below:

MCPHS University
Attn: Admission Office
19 Foster Street
Worcester, MA 01608

In late spring, an MCPHS admission staff members will invite you to a Facebook group so that you can meet your future classmates. During the summer months, an incoming student website will be developed where lots of information will be provided to get you ready to start in fall!

I hope this helps but please let me know if you have any questions."

this didn't answer my question at all. lol

you don't have to request a background check. the school requests it on your behalf, and you will get an email from certiphi (the company pharmcas uses) about registering and submitting your consent to the check, only if this is your first school that you have been accepted to. if you have already done this for another school that you've been accepted, then the results get automatically sent to the other schools you get accepted into. don't request the background check. hope this helps!

Does anyone get the decision letter recently? If so, how long does it take to receive the letter after the interview?

I just recently submitted my application here, and I keep hearing different things about the school. Is it hard to get in? Do they just accept anyone? And is it a good program or a bad one...lol? I can't even get a vibe on the school! Help!!

I am a current P1 in the program. If I remember correctly, the background check was not required for MCPHS Worcester last year. If you are unsure, you can always give the admissions office a call. They will tell you whether the background check is required. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

If you read this thread from top to bottom you'll find most of your questions have been talked about.

It's a great school with a good reputation - the second oldest pharm school in the country. They have a big cohort so about a third get in from the 1000+ applicants (at Worcester).

If you google stats on schools, you can see their average GPA and all that stuff. Also read the thread and see who are current students....they usually are receptive to questions from perspective students and will give you their opinion on the program.

Good school, great accelerated program, good ranking....you need a decent application with a good GPA and pharmacy experience to get in

Hello everyone. I just recently scheduled an interview for March 23rd at the Worcester campus. Furthermore, I am from California and have never traveled outside of California. I was wondering if anyone who previously interviewed from California can give me specific details on booking a flight, hotels, transportation, etc. An immediate response will be much appreciated🙂

I probably will decline the admission from MCPHS Worcester because I got accepted to my dream pharmacy school since I was young! There is another seat open for you 🙂 Good luck to everyone!

MCP-W is a pharmacy school that can give you a PharmD in less than 2 years and 10 months with about $180K in loan after you graduate. Be ready to work your tail off if you do decide to come here. Good luck!

Hi everyone, I just got accepted to MCP-W, and I am 90% going to this school. Please excuse my grammar mistakes, because I am not a native English speaker. Thank you.
I do have some questions regarding this program, I would be grateful if anyone can offer some answers to my questions.
1. How is the schedule looks like during P1 and P2 year? Will I get time to work 5 hours during weekdays or weekends per week? I know it depends on time management skills of each student, but I do want to know if most of MCP-W students would be able to work during the weekend?
2. How many rotations I will be able to do out of state? Does it bases on lottery system? How does it work?
3. What is the employment rate for MCP-W graduates last year? Or any year?
Thank you in advance for all your help!

i cant answer all the questions but:
1: schedule: http://www.mcphs.edu/academics/programs/pharmacy-accelerated-pharmd - then click on curriculum on the right, then scroll down to CURRICULUM Professional Courses. extra time to work depends on your abilities - i dont expect to have extra time.
2. during my interview they said almost all rotations are within a 30-45 minute drive, so not much out of state.

Hello everyone! I got accepted to Worcester about 1.5 weeks ago. Super excited!! Is there a facebook forum for the class of 2016?! 😀

Also.. my main concern is Housing!

Current pharmacy students: Do you recommend a P1 living On or Off campus?

I would think living on-campus would be easier to meet other students. That's why I would pick to live on campus, but I hear that there are on campus housing that don't have kitchens? :/

Can you guys please help me with listing the different housing options with it's features/pros/cons? I would love to visit but I live out of state, so it would help tremendously! Thanks in advance!!

congratulations. theres 2 sets of dorms. lincoln is a bought out hotel, so you get a hotel room with a private bathroom, fridge, microwave.
at foster, you'll have a kitchen taht you share with (i think) 5 other people, but you get less privacy (bathroom, etc).
i think you wont have any problem meeting classmates because you're with your class most of the day.

didnt you have to interview to get in?

Thank you! Yes I did my interview about three weeks ago!

thank you for sharing information and answering my questions! I am from California, so I do want to have more flexible options when picking rotation sites, but MA area is also good I assume. Best wishes to you!

thanks for the information. Do we have to move out of dorm when the semester is over and move back in next semester. I'll appreciate all the input I could get.

Yeah. The shuttle was roughly $80 so my parents just thought it would be better since I'm in a completely new place! Hahah and I'm not that great of a driver to begin with. And thank you! 🙂 I have yet to have time to make an appointment. I had to work these past few days from morning till like 7... 🙁 And I've been catching Kate's voicemail during my breaks! So hopefully, I get her soon! 😀

Hi, I just got an email invitation to an interview, I am so nervous and excited! I was on the waitlist for like a month. I am planning to fly to boston from california but is concern with the driving condition from boston to worcester since it is about an hr...I am considering taking the shuttle with my bf that is mentioned here. If you don't mind explaining to me the process of taking the shuttle...Where, how long is the ride, is it safe? etc. I would really appreciate the tips and thanks in advance!

at first i thought this would be crazy because the "summer break" is a couple weeks. but if we dont move out, do you have the same room for 3 years?

That's exactly what I am trying to figure out...wouldn't be great to have the same room for three years...

They did say when I did my interview that once you get housing, you keep it until you decide to leave or graduate.

That's true. You can stay in the same room the whole time. If you want to change there is a lottery process in spring.

anyone know how long / often the breaks are?
from what I've heard, the breaks are about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks between semesters (depending on when finals are in the week), with 3-4 at the holidays and between summer and fall sessions.

Congratz! Any Helpful tips for the interview? PLEASE, I really want to get into this school, thanks! 🙂

Do we have to pay $1997 for the health insurance or it's just optional?
Thank you very much for your help.

Health insurance is optional if you're covered by your parents - you just need to sign a waiver if you don't want it. If you're not covered, you must buy it through the school.

Is $1997 health insurance for the whole year?

honestly this is the only interview you dont need tips for. they're really nice, and tell you everything you need to know as you're scheduling it on the phone, then they repeat it when you get there so you know exactly waht to expect. you come in, theres a short essay, then a 1 on 1 interview and short tour.
personally my interview was more of a conversation. they dont give you the third degree or try to ambush you with morality questions or anything like that.
relax!

think about why you want to be a pharmacist and why you want to go to mcp

They are super friendly and honestly just want to get to know you. The admissions I met (Kathleen and Brian) were so welcoming, they will answer whatever questions you have for them. First thing you do is a simple and short essay from a choice of 5 questions. Very simple interview questions.. why pharmacy (what area of pharm), why mcphs, and why I have a couple of blemishes on my transcripts. They are not there to "grill" you like other schools. I think the most important is just showing how much interest you have in pharmacy and in their school. Ask your interviewer questions!

Hey guys! I have a couple of questions regarding housing that wasn't covered on the website. If you live in 25 Foster, how many people share a kitchen and bathroom? For instance if I get a 2 person apartment, how many people would i be sharing a kitchen and bathroom with?

For Lincoln: How many people am I sharing a bathroom? I'm mainly worried about the convenience of NOT having a kitchen. And Is there a way to cook even without a kitchen? can i buy a portable stove?

Lastly: Do you recommend a P1 to live on-campus their first year? Is it worth it?? and between the two (Lincoln and Foster) which is better?

I really appreciate all the feedback I get! Thank you in advance guys!

2 person apts have 1 bathroom, so you share with that 1 other person
lincoln doesnt have a kitchen but they have a deli/sandwich/soup place, and a microwave / fridge. definately not real cooking. not sure if a personal cooking thing is allowed as a fire hazard. could ask. you get your own bathroom with lincoln im pretty sure.
theres also 6 person apts with (shared) 2 bathrooms and a kitchen at foster

im starting next year like you, cant make recommendations
