MCW 3-year med programs....

I'm just wondering what fields of medicine will people in the 3 year program be able to practice???

Internal medicine primary care(clinic)???
Internal medicine hospitalist position???
Family Medicine???
............others????

Just wondering because Wisconsin is a great state for physicians but with an influx of primary care doctors by this 3 year program, it might not make primary care as lucrative anymore for Wisconsin physicians with added competition...

So many question marks. The campus is focused on producing/preparing students for entering residencies in FP, IM,Psych, OBGYN, and possibly Gen surgery.

I would contact MCW and ask. It sounds like torture to me if it's just a condensed curriculum.

Here's an overview of 3 year curriculum in general. It is condensed and overall shortened by 20 weeks, which you make up over two summers and reduced breaks.

What are your criteria for being a "great state for physicians"? Also, the Green Bay campus (the 3-year campus) is a result of physician shortages in non-urban areas in Wisconsin, so I'm not sure this "influx" of people will significantly reduce salaries. Also, there is no arrangement that makes MCW students stay in WI for residency or beyond, so I would assume that the regional campus would have relatively little effect on the salaries docs will be offered in order to be competitive.

I think I had a nightmare about that once.
