I would like to take this moment to express how sad I am that a PhD doesn't know when to properly use "affect" and "effect."
Affect: A verb. good mnemonic: A=Action. You AFFECT something, "to influence"
Effect: What you get from something... You GET an effect.
Cripes.
Though, "effect" CAN be used as a verb, meaning "to bring about." However, "affect" as a verb means "to influence." The PhD's usage of "effect" is inappropriate as he refers to influences on acid lability, Beta-lactamase sensitivity, and G+/G- activity.
I have to change so many grammatical errors in my notes.
