This is getting to be a depressing thread to read. M2's who hate Tuesdays (I did too, by the way...come to think of it, fall just plain sucks all around), and the most fantastically ridiculous pimp question of the year.

I agree.

My apologies for helping to make this a depressing thread...it wasn't my intention to do so...I suppose it was involuntary considering my bitter, jaded view of medical education and how it is long, stressful, oftentimes poorly managed, and otherwise frustrating due to hectic schedules filled with long lectures and no breaks, poorly timed "off site" activities, uncomfortable lecture halls, and dull powerpoint presentations.

This only exacerbated the existing stress with the increasing debt compounded by increased cost of living/fuel, unsure futures with current situations domestic and abroad, and unstable futures in our profession both economically and lifestyle-wise. Knowing that we're going into a relatively thankless job that never really gives us a break is eventual;aslaljlalnvmn;ewkjh2erpaosiuhva;lsdknfaw;eoaiwehfa;slcknvawpeoty23908572350239867 oneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneoneooooo susannahdon'tyoucryformeanditooktheroadlesstravelledbybutifigetasbigasdadwon'tmyskinbetootightilovelucybitch!

word

but never fear, it does get better.
even when you are tired and getting pimped by the attending/fellow/resident/intern in front of your entire team, third year is hecka fun compared to second year.
although I personally haven't yet been asked about the pressure to rupture an eye... that might change my opinion.

I think the problem is that we need to take the power back. Instead of waiting to be bombarding with ridiculous questions no reasonable person needs to know or worry about, we need to ASK attendings and residents these questions. In front of patients. Questions that are extremely difficult yet seem fairly clinically relevant despite not being as such since almost nobody would know the answer. Only then will residents and attendings feel our wrath.

What do you have on tuesdays that requires wearing a tie?

Psych. We go interview patients.

I'm in the inpatient psych unit at the VA.

and i am so very glad she comes to visit me there.

Agent Splat said:
i thought it was cause you wanted to honor psych.

My preceptor doesn't seem like he wants to give out many honors in psych, so no, this is because I care. DoctorFunk may be coming to visit you because he wants to honor psych though. 😉

Ashers said:
Or DoctorFunk may still be trying to get a free lunch from MBIG.

if he behaves himself I might buy him a french fry.

Ashers said:
that's a generous offer.

I am eagerly anticipating watching said video before class at 9am! Yay! Sleep is a little more possible tonight. =)

Hey all

I was told there is a guuner's list for the anatomy lab. Do any of you happen to know anything about it.

The best bet is to use the list they give you. It's basically the same as the gunner's list, and the gunner's list may have a few things that aren't on the list provided. The profs also get mad if they see people using the gunner's list and not their list.

I second that, actually. Using the gunner's list just gets you too focused on some things and you neglect others which are just as testable. If you can find it it might be good for "last minute" stuff, but I would seriously just try to know the actual parts list cold..that will also make you more familiar with where the answers are on there...so if you know what something you can quickly locate it on the list to put down the right number.

Ditto... the bookmark I had for it has turned into "MCW Student Organizations"

The bookmark i had for it turned into Ronald McDonald's secret video collection archive.

Hmm...and then I could trade in my golden french fry to our psych preceptor and perhaps barter my way into one of his elusive Honors. I'm seeing possibilities here.

By the way, nothing more painful on Touchy Feely Tuesday than expecting at least three breaks from class during the day and consequently drinking massive amounts of water during the first hour of lecture in an effort to rehydrate. My poor kidneys were pained even before leaving for the VA, and they were practically screaming when I discovered that the VA not only hides their stairs, but their restrooms as well. I was ready to leap over the airport lounge chairs in our room by the time he was done keeping us 20 minutes over our session in a mad scramble for a restroom.

The bright side to the experience above may be that they may be able to get some great pathology specimens from me if they do a renal biopsy.

And I thought the session was painful for me to just be sitting there watching the time go past 12pm.

you guys have it waaaay to easy in anatomy these days.
back in my day.....

I hear the class average went way up last year when they started the new system.

Yeah, it felt like a typical 2nd year experience to me. Here I was, listening to a guy spill his guts to the whole group and talk about his depression and life in great detail, including his bleak career outlook and marital problems after 30-some years of marriage, and all I could think about was how badly I needed to urinate.

Seriously, I probably would have been crying my eyes out as an M1. Now it already feels like another day at the office. Sad,sad stuff, I tell ya.

Is that why you were so quiet before the session? Your rabid badger post in the waking up at 6:15 thread is the funniest thing I've read here.

I believe it did, but my understanding is that our class averages were somewhat higher across most of the courses last year (honestly with no help from me)

Fight the urge to whine, Don, it makes us sound old. And also, I heard a fantastic rumor about you and would loooove to confirm it with you.

And first years (and second years who miss me 😛), I will be helping train you guys in blood pressure skills tomorrow... there's only six of us, so I should be easy to find. I'm the short one. 🙂 Feel free to come say hi.

Some call it the love llama. Me, I call it heaven on earth, my friend.

Seriously though, I have a copy of the Gunner's List saved for Blocks 1-3 if anyone wants them. I can't attach them here, but would be happy to e-mail them to anyone who is interested. Just PM me.

Diddo...i thought 90% of the exam was on the gunners list

don't be so panoptic.

I thought the gunner's list was very useful for studying...it at least helps you target which structures are pretty much guaranteed to be on the exam. The way I used it was to color-code my structures list based on how many times a structure had been asked in previous years. (ie, highlighted green if it's been asked only once, yellow if 2-3x, and red if 4+ times.) Of course you have to know everything on the WHOLE structures list, but the gunner's list helps you concentrate your efforts on more high-yield structures.

Never, ever, ever be panoptic.
You will never see one outside of the STAR center.

Xandie, I PM'd you.

Xandie, were you wearing a pink shirt and jeans with your hair tied up today? cuz I asked one M3 if she was Xandie, and she pointed to somebody else.....

that sounds like something Xandie would do when someone approached her.

Bad Xandie!

Yep, I was the one wearing the pink shirt.

And that sounds like nothing I would do, Marc!! Ash is soo right. 😛

So where is this gunners list anyway?

I used to be able to find it by searching for "gunner's list" on the main MCW website, but now it's not returning any hits. Either they took the page down, or their search engine is doing an even crappier job than it normally does. I would PM Doctor Funk for the gunner's list...it sounds like he the file saved on his computer.

I was wondering if anyone had access to a old (not stolen) biochemistry exam, and would be willing to share?
